Re: Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League
Week 5 update
The Blizzard dispatched the Apocalypse and Vipers, but fell to the Termites to stand at 3-1.
Though in his 3rd season (2nd as a starter), Sterling Maclin seems to be suffering from sophomore slump. Jason Peterson and the rest of the aerial attack have been stepping up, but made some crucial mistakes against Tyler.
The week 5 matchup was a tale of two halves, like most Anchorage defeats. In fact, the Blizzard rarely trails, but sometimes runs out of creativity and makes too many mistakes in the second half. This is what happened in Tyler, where they built a seemingly insurmountable 35-7 lead. Former Yeti Jeremy McManus had a difficult start to the game, throwing 3 interceptions. But he finished with over 400 yards and 6 touchdown passes to claim a 41-35 overtime win.
Christian Armstrong scores his first career TD.
Newcomer Kellen Celek scores in his first game with the Blizzard.
Lee Mauro scores against the Roaches.
Quinton Sample returns this punt for a touchdown.
William Roberts had 3 pick-sixes against Casablanca.
Mike Parry also had a pick-six, on 103 yards.
Will Lowery has a 100-yard interception return for a TD to keep his team in the game.
Donald Bulaga gets open for a touchdown.
Malcolm Pryor had a crucial sack to keep Anchorage out of field goal range. Not pictured: DT Sharrif Martin had 5 sacks and a forced fumble in the game.
Matt Boone has an 89-yard TD reception to bring the teams to overtime.
Jason Peterson tries to force a play, and Brian Tomlinson comes down with the overtime interception.
After catching two short TD passes in regulation, Jon McCourty jukes Phil Quinn and scores from 83 yards away to give Tyler the win.

I'm some posts late, but I was shocked with the QB Boyle trade,,, really like him
and my RailRiders lost in the Super Bowl with only a field goal scored

Boyle is very promising, but I like my QBs to be a little more mobile. If all goes well, he will lead the Ironmen’s offense for the next 10-15 seasons, so you shall see him again.
We’ll see in a few seasons if the trade was worth it. It became the 1st overall pick I used to select RT Kenny Fitzpatrick, who could be starting LT in a few seasons.
As for your RailRiders’ SB loss, of course it’s frustrating, they chose a bad moment to lose cohesion. At least they won the Super Bowl before, at least once. (Twice? I’ll have to check).
