Running Madden 04 on Windows 10

Hi all. I'm trying to get Madden 04 to run on Windows 10. I downloaded the ISOs and installed it without a problem. I've tried running it in compatibility mode (XP SP2 and Win7), with admin permissions, window mode, and 256-color. I have applied the 4.0 patch and a no-CD file, no luck - didn't work before either, after either, or after both. Basically the launcher comes up, I click play, and then the windows adjust and then eventually goes back to the desktop. No error messages or anything. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips for me? I know 08 works well but I really miss 04.

Otherwise I'll try to do XP on a virtual machine and run it that way but I feel like it'll be a headache getting my Dualshock 4 to work with it and VMs are a headache anyway.

Madden 04 plays just fine in my laptop with windows 10 home or something like that.

It has the latest updates from microsoft.

Not sure if this has anything to do with you situation, but I had 2 monitors and 04 would not run unless I unplugged 1 and went with one display.

You're best bet is finding a no-cd patch online. I'm not telling you where, you have to find it. Also, you have to set the compatibility to Windows XP.

Thanks all. I have a no CD patch and am using compatibility mode, still no luck. But I got it running well in a virtual machine

One of the reasons why I've ditched Windows 10 and gone back to a Linux setup is that the support for older games in Win10 can be problematic IMO. I use Crossover Linux in my rig as the Wine config backbone and it runs Madden 2004 pretty well. I plan to get Madden 08 on it soon as well.

it is important to run Madden 2004 in compatibility mode (e.g. XP) in Windows 10 as others have discussed previously. The issue with my controllers being screwed up trying to run it with dual joystick support was a dealbreaker, but that could be me as a cranky coach mode dude venting LOL.

If you get Madden 08 working on Linux, make a new post with all the details of how you go about doing it if you don't mind. Specifically: Can you get 08 to run properly, can you get it to run with calhoupe's scripts, and can it be modded?

I will make a companion thread for Madden 2004 in Crossover if need be, but most of what I have shared re installation issues with Madden 08 is directly applicable to a Madden 2004 experience. i can follow up with a separate Madden 2004 thread if need be, but this should suffice.

Hello all. I'm trying to run Madden 04 on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop with Windows 10.. I have the original game disks and installed and am trying to run it via an external CD / DVD player thru a USB port. I've tried running it in compatibility mode (XP SP2 and Win7), admin permissions, window mode, and 256-color. I have applied the 4.0 patch also, but nothing happens when I click play. Literally nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recently my 15 year old Dell laptop with XP gave out and I'm looking to transfer the franchise I've been playing for 15 years to my new laptop, but can't even get the game with the original files to play! Please help! Thanks in advance!
