This Journal will track the progress of a Jacksonville Jaguars Madden 2008 GM franchise starting from the 2019 regular season forward (note: "GM franchise" means all games will be played out CPU v. CPU, however, all player moves (sign/release, free agency, trades, drafts) will be made by the General Manager).
The Vitals: This franchise will be using the new FF/FI mod and its default roster, NZA's franchise guide and editor, MaddenAmp to conduct drafts and a few TexMod tpf files. I will be using a custom set of sliders which you can read more on here: http://www.footballidiot.com/forum/view ... 18&t=20282
Next Up... the Jaguars will start the 2019 regular season against Patrick Mahomes and the defending AFC West Champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Jags Win Opener but Lose Foles to Lengthy Injury
JACKSONVILLE -- One pass attempt. That will be all the Jacksonville Jaguars and their fans will see from newly acquired free agent QB Nick Foles for at least the next 11 weeks. While Foles did complete that one pass attempt, it was a costly one as he absorbed a vicious hit soon after releasing the throw and did not return to the game. After an MRI concluded today, the team has announced that a back injury will keep Foles sidelined until at least late November. With the team's $88M free agent QB out, the Jaguars had to turn to rookie 6th round pick Gardner Minshew. After struggling at times during training camp and the pre-season, there was some question as to whether Minshew would even secure the role as Foles' back-up this season. However, Minshew put those struggles behind him and put on a surprising performance all things considered. Entering the game early in the first quarter, Minshew got to work quickly and led Jacksonville to its first score of the new season on a 54 yard TD strike to Dede Westbrook. Minshew and the Jags offense did not stop there and before the Chiefs defense could come up with any answers, the Jags went to the locker room with a 24-6 halftime lead. The Jaguars stuck to the running game in the second half and the defense was able to contain Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes for most of the final two quarters. "Once we built that lead, we knew the ground game was going to be called on to grind out some clock," said Jaguars HB Leonard Fournette. That ground game was able to pile up over 100 yards and allowed the team to secure a 30-20 opening week victory. "You have to be impressed with what Gardner did," said head coach Doug Marrone, "to be put in that position as a rookie and perform like that, believe me it's not easy." Minshew finished the day completing 16 of 24 passes for 272 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Jaguars will now have to decide on what to do at the QB position and whether to look to trade or bring in a QB that will either compete for the starting job with Minshew or serve as his back-up. The Jaguars will now travel to NRG Stadium for a Week 2 match-up with division rival Houston.

Minshew Mania Hits Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE -- Just a few short weeks ago, Gardner Minshew was a little-known sixth round pick out of Washington State. Just a few short weeks ago, there were questions, after a mediocre pre-season, as to whether Gardner Minshew would even make the Jaguars' 54-man roster. Now, after a surprising week one injury to starting QB Nick Foles, the Jaguars find themselves in the middle of an unexpected win streak that has been led in part by Minshew. With a flare for the dramatic on the field and a level of play that no one could have anticipated, coupled with a folksy down-South demeanor and quirky fashion sense (read: a pronounced mustache, jorts and a head-band), Jacksonville finds itself fully in the grip of what's being called "Minshew Mania." When questioned about his meteoric rise to near folk-hero status, Minshew remains humble. "I don't really know what to think of it, I was brought up in Mississippi and taught that hard work will bring results. So I'm going to continue to work hard, be myself and let results speak for themselves," said Minshew. Thus far, those results have translated to a 5-0 start for the Jaguars. Interestingly, each of the four games that Minshew has started have been close one-score games that the Jaguars have pulled out. "He's a gamer, he can move around well in the pocket and he's not afraid to put the ball up there and let us receivers make a play on it," said WR D.J. Chark. With injuries on the offense to players like Foles, Leonard Fournette and Dede Westbrook, it is young players like Chark and Minshew who have had to step up for the Jags. "We've actually had quite a bit of adversity during these first five weeks, and the team has responded tremendously," said coach Doug Marrone. Part of that adversity was created by a rift between the front office and star CB Jalen Ramsey. That rift grew so deep that after the week three win over the Titans the team traded Ramsey to the Rams for first round picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts. Thus far, the team has been able to rally around it's rookie quarterback and embrace "Minshew Mania." The Jaguars will look to keep that momentum going as they face the New Orleans Saints at home on Sunday. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.

Which one, Baby Chark or undefeated record?
I'm rooting for Chark to have a 1000 yard season.
