Anchorage was quiet in free agency, bringing back OLB Alex Siegel and signing HB Marquis Warfield.
Elsewhere around the league, CB Marco Van Dyke surprisingly left the Termites and joined the RailRiders. This will fill the void left by Earl Fryar's retirement.
WR Shane Zeigler is still exploring if he will return to the Apocalypse or sign elsewhere. TE Darren Dwight has been a great depth player for the Ironmen but he will look if he can start somewhere.

Week 2 news
The Blizzard had a significant injury in week 1, as Lester Walker broke his collarbone while returning a punt, and will be sidelined for approximately 3 months.
There was also a scary moment in week 2, as Nate Clarke came down with an injury, but he will be ready to return next week.

Season 128 recap
The Blizzard had a few calls (week 1, 12 and 17, mainly) but they returned to their unbeaten ways.
After a more difficult season last year, Nate Clarke also returned to glory, adding another season with 8000 yards and 100 TDs. He was named MVP. Rookie RB Dwayne Foster was neutralized by a few opponents, but he flashed a lot of potential. FB/TE Anthony Hansen built on a strong rookie season and went even farther, flirting with the 3000-yard plateau. Brenden Bowens was a great secondary target, and so was new addition FB/TE David Jordan.
John Jackson was named DPOY with his 42 sacks, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles. Ike Roberts also had a strong season. Raven Bender was named best DB.
Main returner Lester Walker went down in week 1. The team would spend most of the first half of the season trying to score a special teams TD, splitting reps between Daryl Rutledge, Jamaal Smith and Kurt Shade. Shade eventually won the job and returned 5 kicks and 2 punts to the house, earing him a Pro Bowl appearance. When Walker returned, he also had 7 touchdowns (2 kicks and 5 punts).
Shade had success in all phases of the game, as he also caught 45 passes for 1006 yards and 10 TDs, and had 43 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.

Playoffs recap
The Kingfish dispatched the Ironmen in overtime to set up a divisional matchup against their divisional foes. Week 1 had been a close game while week 16, not so much. Which version of the Kingfish would show up?
David Jordan opened the score with a short TD reception.
With the score tied, TE Harold Watson tried to do something out of nothing, and he was tackled by Ricky Cash in the endzone.
The ensuing kick was returned by Kurt Shade all the way to the endzone.
Jon Irwin had a stellar game but it wasn't enough.
The Apocalypse outlasted the Archers 15-13 to set up another New York-Anchorage AFC championship game.
The Blizzard struck early when Nate Clarke connected with Daryl Rutledge for a 50-yard TD.
Raven Bender came down with this interception.
After Glenn Turner in week 17, Lester Devlin showed it is possible to run all over this Anchorage defense. He finished with 273 yards and 3 TDs.
Anthony Hansen caught a pass in the endzone.
The game was still within a touchdown when Shade forced two crucial fumbles. Darius Brooks almost made it to the endzone, but Shade forced him to fumble at the 2-yard line. Then a few minutes later, Omar Diller fumbled the ball on Shade's disorienting tackle.
After the second fumble, Shade finished the job by scoring a 26-yard touchdown.
The Vortices snuck past the Defenders to represent the NFC in the big game held in New Orleans.

Lamar Ingram scored 3 TDs in the 2nd quarter, but the Blizzard found an answer to him in the second half.

The Blizzard struck early when Nate Clarke connected with Daryl Rutledge for a 50-yard TD.
Raven Bender came down with this interception.
After Glenn Turner in week 17, Lester Devlin showed it is possible to run all over this Anchorage defense. He finished with 273 yards and 3 TDs.
Anthony Hansen caught a pass in the endzone.
The game was still within a touchdown when Shade forced two crucial fumbles. Darius Brooks almost made it to the endzone, but Shade forced him to fumble at the 2-yard line. Then a few minutes later, Omar Diller fumbled the ball on Shade's disorienting tackle.
After the second fumble, Shade finished the job by scoring a 26-yard touchdown.
