Post-draft free agency
Following the draft, the Blizzard brought back two familiar faces in WR Morgan Rodgers and DE Telvin Slade. They also added unsigned QB Greg Bridgewater, who had been drafted but did not stick on his original team's roster.
(I am not completely sure of what happened. Bridgewater appeared in post-draft free agency, so I signed him. In the editor, I can see he was drafted 5th overall, which would be a pick by the Phantoms. But when I look at the Phantoms' roster, they have a rookie WR who also shows up as 5th overall. Through trades, the Phantoms had more than 10 draft picks, so I wonder if that broke the game. That said, I decided to keep Bridgewater, I boosted the Phantoms' veteran starting QB, added a promising heir, and boosted a few more of their players for their trouble. I'm hoping that's fair.)

More personnel moves
The Blizzard was not too busy in the weeks leading to the draft, but they have been aggressively remodeling their roster since then.
They traded WR Craig Cox to the Vortices and DE Deshazor White to the Phantoms. In return, they received two 1st-round picks and OL Eli Pryor. Pryor is a natural tackle but would fit perfectly at the LG spot.
In a move that took everyone by surprise, they also traded QB A.Q. Austin (their first-round pick a year ago, who won MVP/OROY) to the Archers for another 1st-round pick. Turns out, newcomer Bridgewater is more mobile and has a stronger arm, with comparable accuracy (Austin has 1 THA more).

Week 12 mini-update
I will write a more detailed update at the end of the season, but here are a few informations.
Going into their week 13 matchup against the RailRiders, the Blizzard is currently unbeaten. Birmingham only has one loss, so it should be a great game.
Rookies Greg Bridgewater (QB) and Brian Dunbar (RB) have been doing great, but you'll have to wait for the end of the season to find out how great.
Rookie WR Bryce Elliott has contributed on offense, but it is especially on special teams that he is tearing up the league. He currently has 9 kick return TDs and 9 punt return TDs, some of which were very long.
He broke the league record (106 yards by Craig Cox) with this 107-yard return:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UcWbUD00Ys
Then two weeks later, he had this 106-yarder:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KT0lIUnszE
(sorry for the poor video quality and dusty laptop)

Playoffs recap
The Kingfish showed they could be great, but they made too many mistakes to stay in the game. Darren Hall had an early pick-six, and George Phillips scored on a special teams fumble forced by Jesse Perry. Antonio Kendricks also had an interception in the endzone.
Isaiah Duarte had an unreal game, getting 266 yards in receptions, with 3 TDs. Sadly, the rest of the team did not produce as much.
Brian Dunbar also had a strong game, rushing for 208 yards and 2 TDs.
Jake Pouncey flattened RB Ethan Fluker and took down quarterback J.R. Larsen.
Everyone was expecting a close game between Anchorage and Birmingham. It wasn't the case.
Clinton Ott and Tony Gilmore scored early, and the RailRiders couldn't recover.
Both teams recorded safeties in the 1st quarter. Here, Antonio Kendricks sacks Junior Watt for two points.
This set up a Super Bowl in St.Louis between the Blizzard and the Vortices. RB Sterling Maclin was looking to cement his legacy with a win over his former team.
And he was the one to open the score with this powerful 8-yard run.
Tony Gilmore tied the score by beating former Yeti Dominique Matthews.
Anchorage built a 28-7 lead before halftime, but on the final play of the half, Brian Dunbar fumbled on this brutal hit by Kristjan Brown. Matthews took his revenge from earlier by returning the ball into the endzone to make it a 2-score game.
San Juan came back with more intensity, and Maclin scored on a 48-yard run.
Greg Bridgewater let his nerves get to him, and he threw this interception to Davante Boyd, which was returned on 59 yards for 6 points.
Maclin continued his great game, this time scoring from 58 yards out to give his team the lead. But Clinton Ott would bring the teams back to square one.
The Vortices would boot the go-ahead field goal with some time remaining on the clock. But Senquez Thomas would grab his 2nd interception of the game to seal the victory.
There were many players to choose from, but Sterling Maclin was named game MVP with his 213 rushing yards and 3 TDs.
Congratulations, Vortices!

Re: Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League
He was already in the discussion as greatest running back the Blizzard ever had, and now he is cementing his legacy as one of the best in league history. He just notched his 8th season with 2000+ yards rushing. If you include his catches, he is on a streak of 11 consecutive years with over 2000 yards from scrimmage.
Now he added a 2nd Super Bowl ring with San Juan, to add to those won with Anchorage.

JPK wrote:More personnel moves
Little late here,, but crazy moves rught here
didn't see that coming,,, Cox era was awesome
Re: Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League
this second one is insane,,, don't have the guts to run it..
