How to update Madden 12 rosters on PSP

Postby B-rad » Tue Oct 14, 2014 5:03 am

Here I am posting my update for Madden 12 on PSP.
I am also including instructions which should enable anyone to update the roster file
on a PC and import it back onto your PSP without it crashing during franchise mode.

The roster is updated to week 6 of the 2014 season.
It is currently about 80 - 90% complete and works on franchise mode.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/iio9s ... 6_2014.rar

To update the rosters to week 6 - 2014
- Copy only the SAVEDATA folder to your PSP/ folder on your PSP.
- Start the game and load the new roster file.

To edit the roster on your PC and import back onto your PSP

TOOLS
You will need;
- To install the savegamedeemer plugin for PSP into your seplugins folder (included)
- A Hex editing program (I used Winhex).
- A madden 08 PC roster editing program. (I used Madden08 editor V2).

INSTALLATION

- Copy the seplugins folder onto the root of your PSP memory stick
- Go to the VSH menu
(the main PSP menu screen which displays, settings / music / video / game...etc)
- Press select.
- A menu should pop up titled 'PRO VSH MENU'
- Select 'RECOVERY MENU' from the list
- Select 'PLUGINS' from the next list
- Select 'deemerh.prx [GAME]' and ensure it is set to 'Enabled'
- Go back and exit the VSH menu. Start Madden 12 on your PSP.
- Make any change to the roster and save it.
- Exit back to the VSH menu on your PSP.

In the PSP folder of your memory stick, you should now have a folder called SAVEDATA as well
as a new folder called 'SAVEPLAIN'
- Delete everything in the SAVEPLAIN folder
- Copy over them with the new 'SAVEDATA' and 'SAVEPLAIN' folders from the update.

VERIFICATION

- Start Madden 12 on your PSP.
- Go to My Madden and check that the roster has been updated.
- Auto re-order the depth charts.
- Remember to save the file.

UPDATING THE ROSTER
- If all went well. You will have the updated roster, as well as new 'SAVEPLAIN' and 'SAVEDATA'
folders on your psp.
- To extract the roster for editing on your PC - Open the SAVEPLAIN folder and
search for the SDDATA.BIN file which is 245kb.
(It will be in a folder named ULUS10581016, ULUS10581017, 1018, or 1024.
It should correspond with a folder in your SAVEDATA folder under the same name)

- Copy this SDDATA.BIN file to your PC and re-name it to SDDATA.Ros
- The file is now ready for editing - using one of the Madden08 PC editors.
(I used NZA's Madden08 Editor V2)

HEX EDITING
Once the roster is saved to your liking, you will need to hex edit the first 24 characters of
the roster - so that it is recognised by your PSP.
- Open both the original PSP roster and your updated roster in seperate windows
using the hex editor (if possible, view the file as text display only).

- Starting from the top left - delete the first 24 characters of your new roster
(starting with DB....) and replace them with the first 24 characters from the original roster.

- Once completed, save and rename your updated roster to SDDATA.BIN.

- Place the hex edited SDDATA.BIN file into the SAVEPLAIN folder on your PSP.

- You do not need to worry about replacing the SAVEDATA folder each time.
As long as the ULUS10581016 folder exists in both the SAVEPLAIN and SAVEDATA folders, you
can update the roster by just replacing the SDDATA.BIN file.

TIPS TO PREVENT THE ROSTER FROM CRASHING ON FRANCHISE MODE

- Make sure you auto reorder the depth charts for every team (only needs to be done once after
the file is first loaded).
- Set all free agents salaries to $0 (PTSA).
- Make sure all current player salaries are greater than $0 (PTSA).
- Make sure original contracted years are either greater than or equal to contract years left.
- Easiest way to check the above 3 is to export to csv using the Madden08 Editor V2.
- Open the csv file with excel. Freeze the top row (view/freeze panes/freeze the top row)
- Select all. Sort by TeamID. Free agents are in the team 1009. Check salaries equal 0.

I have compiled the rar file, so that it can be extracted onto the root of your PSP memory stick. Remember, you will still need
to enable the sgdeemer plugin through the VSH menu (if you haven't done so already).

I understand that the tutorial for manually updating the roster is a bit extensive and long winded, so I have included a pictorial, to give you a fair idea of how the process works.

1. Once you have installed the sgdeemer plugin and have extracted the SDDATA.BIN file from the SAVEPLAIN folder.
- rename the file extension to .ros instead of .BIN.
- edit the roster using the NZA's Madden 08 PC editor V2 and check all free agent salaries are zero

2. Check that all players in teams are recieving a salary

3. Open the updated roster AND the original PSP roster (Included in the rar file) with a hex editor. If you view it in text mode, you will notice that the first 17 blocks of data are different in both files.
Delete the first 17 blocks from the updated file and copy / paste the first 17 blocks from the original PSP roster.
This is what your roster file will look like after being edited with the PC roster editor.

This is what the original PSP roster file looks like.

Delete the first 17 blocks from your roster.
Image
Copy and paste the first 17 blocks from the original PSP roster and paste them to the start of your roster (before DCHT)

Save the file and rename to SDDATA.BIN. It should be 245kb in size.
Replace the file in your SAVEPLAIN folder

Start the game, check the roster and auto reorder the depth charts.

Im not sure, but I guess if you rename the titleid (ULUS folder) to match your roster save for Madden 08, it may work.
Be aware that the profile pictures will be messed up, because they may not correspond with the ID's for Madden 12.
You may also need to copy and paste the first 17 characters from your original ID, in case there is some hidden data in it.
I haven't got Madden 08, so am not sure.

I have used the above method to sucessfully modify the PS2 version of Madden 12....and it works.
For the PS2 method, you use the same method to hex edit the file after modifying it on your PC.
You use uLaunchelf to extract the file from your memory card. My roster is named Rost1, so is in a folder called BASLUS21946DRost1
If you want a copy of my PS2 save, you can download it here http://www.mediafire.com/download/7pvws ... DRost1.rar
Just extract to a USB device and copy/paste using uLaunchelf.

You will need to reorder the depth charts and I think create a few players here and there to make up the numbers in about 3 teams. (In my roster)

If franchise is freezing check the following;
There should be 1866 players, each with their own Player ID and POID.
Check that there are no duplicates, name and/Or Player IDs.
Check player salaries for free agents and contracted players.
Check the breakdown for each team, if there are players missing at certain positions, franchise might not work.
To make things alot easier, use NZAs editor v2 and export your roster to .csv.
Open with excel and freeze the top column. Search on google if you do not know how to do this.
Sort by TeamID and scroll down to check all free agent salaries are 0. Follow this up by checking contracted players and that their salaries are greater than 0. Column PTSA (Player total salary).
Then sort by player ID and check for duplicates. Followed by sort by POID which should be the same as Player ID.the player ID numbers are not in numerical order. It may help to extract the original psp roster to excel and copy paste the player ids from the original onto your roster. They start at 4 and I think the last one (player 1866) is 24890.
Last but not least check Team IDs. They should start at 1-32 for the NFL teams and ID 1009 for free agents. Sometimes they can be corrupted by the roster editors and show Team Id 37 or something that has no value in game

I checked the .csv file and noticed that there are 1962 players on the roster. You would probably need to extract the default roster....
check the number of players on the roster and make sure that every player on your roster corresponds to a Player ID on the default.
I haven't got Madden 08, but if you upload the original roster - I can have a look.
