These are JD's rules, I cannot confirm their truth.
He says 256 games for the regular season (which is a binary number), but I'm not sure why that would be true as the SCHD table contains the playoffs as well. Testing would prove or disprove this (just find 2 teams with the same bye week and add in them playing each other that week which would be the 257th game of the season).
Playoff format

Re: Playoff format
You mean in the standings? Z= home field, Y= division winner, X = wildcard? What table would that be in the DB editor?MikeWest502 wrote:When the regular season ends, the game assigns playoff attributes (Y & X) for seeding. Using your new schedule method, see if you can assign the two additional playoff teams (7th Seeds) the playoff attribute (X) before you start the Wild Card round of games.
Not sure, at what stage did you try to load it in AMP? I used a combo of 3 different programs at different stages. I used Madden Editor to actually add the 2 extra games (before the season started), and I only used AMP to change who the teams were in those 2 games (after the regular season ended). I used the DB editor to try and re-add the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl after Madden removed them.DOLPHINSKINGS1 wrote:Great job! But why doesn't my franchise get recognized in Madden Amp? I did exactly as you did EXACTLY.
I used the one that came with MadMod-X 4.0, so it says DB Editor 3.0. Is that the latest? I just downloaded it the other day.RevanFan wrote:Question: What version of the DB Editor did you use?
I caught that, so I changed the 268 it originally had to 270 and when I re-imported the CSV it said 270 records and had the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl I added at the end. That's when the game crashed right away. I'm assuming it's a game limitation at this point, but no reason to stop playing around with it yet.RevanFan wrote:In non-current versions, if you extract a table as a CSV, there would be a number at the top right-most cell that determines how many lines get imported back into the game. You have to either update or delete this line before you import the CSV back into the game.
I'll test this again, but I'm pretty sure you can have a team play any number of games you want, and even multiple games per week, but the total number of regular season games can't exceed 256. Like I could schedule the Vikings to play 50 times, but then there are only 206 remaining for the other teams combined. I don't think you can do more than 16 a week either, and you have to have at least 1 game in each of the 17 weeks. I'll try it again later to be sure.mee wrote:He says 256 games for the regular season (which is a binary number), but I'm not sure why that would be true as the SCHD table contains the playoffs as well. I thought of maybe a better idea than removing 2 meaningless week 17 games, since the stats could be important for those teams/players. After playing the 6 game wildcard round and knowing who advanced, you'll probably have to edit the divisional round anyway, so maybe remove the 2 of the wildcard games that you added earlier after they were played? They've served their purpose once you get to the divisional round, and playoff stats don't count for jack. I'll test that scenario here soon too.Reignman wrote:I had one more trick up my sleeve, but that didn't work either. Using the DB Editor, I removed 2 meaningless games from week 17. I didn't get that last error anymore, but the game still crashed. Perhaps because the 2 games I removed had been played already? Later I'll remove 2 week 17 games before they're played, just to see if it works.
Re: Playoff format
Ok I'm back from the lab xD.
First thing I tested was having the Vikings play 2 games a week for the first 4 weeks of the season. I didn't add any new games to the league schedule to do this, I just changed who some teams were playing. Had it worked, the Vikings should have played 20 games, 4 teams should have played only 15, and everyone else their usual 16.
When I look at the Vikings schedule, things look a little wrong already. It just pushed everything down, so their week 4 game ended up past their week 7 bye, and it didn't re-number the weeks lol. It also doesn't show their final 4 games after the Jaguars. That Jaguars game should be week 13, not 17.
Everything looked normal on the weekly schedule though.
I clicked "simulate season", but it stopped simulating after week 1, and wouldn't auto advance to week 2. So I selected week 2 from the drop down menu and it finally went to week 2. But the "simulate season" option was no longer available, so I clicked "simulate week" and the game crashed. No idea why yet. I'll have to try this one again.
So I started fresh and went to test #2. The Vikings and Colts had a bye week 7, so I made them play each other instead, and it simulated the regular season fine. I had to add a new record to the SCHD table to make it happen, so it's at 269 rows. Will it delete the Pro Bowl? Nope it didn't lol. So why did it work this time? It was the standard 12 team playoffs, and after simulating the Pro Bowl, the game advanced to the offseason.
The Vikings and Colts both finished 10-7 and made the playoffs. Everyone else played their usual 16 games.
The stats counted too.
So at least that part of the mystery is solved. A team can play more than 16 games, but can they play more than 2 games a week? Lets move to test #3 to find out.
In week 5 the Vikings were scheduled to play at Seattle, and the Packers had a bye. I kept the Vikings/Seahawks game but then I also had the Vikings play the Packers that week too. I removed the Rams/Washington game to keep the league schedule at 256 games.
So that gave the Rams/Washington a 2nd bye on the schedule, and only 15 games each. Packers and Vikings both with 17 games.
And this season simulated without issues too. The game advanced to the playoffs, then the offseason.
So a team can play more than 2 games a week. I guess I have to figure out if they can play more than 17 a season now, because I have no idea why that first test failed when I tried making the Vikings play twice a week 4 weeks in a row. I don't think I screwed up the schedule because all I had to do was change 4 team ID's to 30.
Now that I think about it, I should find out if a team can play itself too lol.

Re: Playoff format
Ok it crashed again on this test, but I think I figured it out now. Madden doesn't like it when you make a team play twice in week 1. Week 2 and beyond, fine. That's the only thing I changed to get it to work, and now it works every time.Reignman wrote:I clicked "simulate season", but it stopped simulating after week 1, and wouldn't auto advance to week 2. Apparently I can only add 1 extra game to the schedule. 257 league games work fine, but whenever I try 258 or more, the franchise won't even load. I had the Vikings play 1 team that was on a bye, it worked. Had them play 2 teams on a bye, crash. Was it because the Vikings played more than 17 games that 2nd time? Nope.Reignman wrote:So I started fresh and went to test #2. The Vikings and Colts had a bye week 7, so I made them play each other instead, and it simulated the regular season fine. Yep, a single team can play up to 16 games a week, but as I mentioned earlier, the entire league can only play 257 total.Reignman wrote:So at least that part of the mystery is solved. A team can play more than 16 games, but can they play more than 2 games a week?
Yep, I had the Vikings play 32 games in my test, twice a week. Other teams had to play fewer than 16 ofc. And the stats count for all those extra games.Reignman wrote:I guess I have to figure out if they can play more than 17 a season now
As I mentioned earlier, Madden doesn't like it when you mess with week 1 for whatever reason lol.Reignman wrote:I have no idea why that first test failed when I tried making the Vikings play twice a week 4 weeks in a row.
Yep, they can. The Vikings destroyed themselves in their own building. Stats for both sides counted, and it went down as a win and loss in the standings.Reignman wrote:Now that I think about it, I should find out if a team can play itself too lol.
I suppose I should probably get back to the original topic now that those curiosities have been settled. The playoff schedule xD.

Ooooooo Madden Xtreme DB Editor. Now gluten free with extra reme haha. Ok I'll give that one a shot because I'm getting mixed results adding extra rows to the SCHD table.
I'm not holding my breath though because no matter what, I think people are going to have to constantly edit the playoff schedule all the way up to the Super Bowl if there are any upsets along the way.
I was trying a new method where I didn't edit the schedule until I got to the playoffs. Then I edited the first 2 wildcard games and changed them to the #2 vs #7 seed, and simulated just those 2 games. Wrote down the winners. Went back to the schedule editor and changed those 2 wildcard games back to the original matchups, marked them as "not played", then simulated the original 4 wildcard games. If the 7th seed won a game, then you'd have to edit the divisional round, if not, then no more editing required.
For my test I let one of the 7th seeds win their wildcard game. So I had to re-seed the divisional round to get the 7th seed in there. But then the 7th seed won it's divisional game too so I thought I would have to edit the conference round too (or the game would crash), but oddly enough the game automatically advanced the 7th seed to the CC. The 7th seed won that game too and auto advanced to the Super Bowl. I thought that was pretty neat lol. But my joy was short lived because the game crashed after I simulated the Super Bowl. Keep in mind I didn't add any extra games to the wildcard round, I only edited them. Maybe the 7th seed won the Super Bowl and the game didn't like that for whatever reason.
Re: Playoff format
Well no luck with the very first test. First thing I did just to make sure everything was working, I added 1 regular season game to the schedule. I once again had the Vikings play the Colts on their bye week and the season simulated just fine with both playing 17 games. So then I had 2 other teams play during their bye week, Cardinals vs Broncos. Franchise wouldn't load, said it was damaged. So I removed the Colts/Vikings game and then the franchise would load with the Cardinals/Broncos having the extra game. 257 regular season games seems to be the limit.
I also tried adding the 2 wildcard games like I did before, before the season started, and with a regular 256 game season, but now I get the same error as before that says the file is damaged. That happened with the old DB Editor too.
Madden Editor (schedule import/export) is the only program that works to get the 2 extra wildcard games. I'll see if I can use that to add more than 1 regular season game.
Whoa, hold the phone here boys. Using Madden editor I managed to get it to simulate 258 regular season games, so I guess the problem is DB Editor. Lions, Packers, Raiders, and Patriots all played 17 games, everyone else 16. But, it once again wouldn't advance past the conference round, so still no Super Bowl or Pro Bowl.
Alright, so using Madden Editor, I exported the schedule through the conference games. Yep the SB and PB were missing, so I added them manually and imported it, but they still weren't there in-game. Had to go back to the DB Editor now lol. I added just the Super Bowl, went back in-game, and there it was. Simulated it, but ofc now there's still no PB. Took the same steps I did to add the SB, but this time the franchise wouldn't load. Got the damage error.
Madden Editor won't import extra playoff games after the season has started, DB Editor leads to a damaged file, and you can't add games with Amp, so are there any other tools out there that can edit schedules besides Madden Editor, DB Editor, or Amp?

I don't think so, but I'm not 100% certain.
Also, regarding the "damaged file" error... I recently had that with a franchise file, and I fixed it simply by loading the file in NZA's Editor 1.3 and just... saving. That's it. It was weird. I don't know if that will fix this "damaged file" error, but it takes, like, 10 seconds. Worth a shot.

Has anyone tried their hand at making a dedicated schedule editor? Something that can change all the aspects of the schedule at once without having to switch between the DB editor/NZA/etc.
