You can find how many snaps someone played in Madden Amp? How? I never knew that. That would be a great addition to my preseason rundown.

Anyway, I'll study your results a bit and get you my prediction as soon as I can.

Question: Do you run a 4-3 or 3-4 defense?

Yeah. Open your franchise file (Load the StreamedData.db too), then load one of your players, go to the stats tab, and change the Season box to whatever year you are on (Depends on the franchise file. I should be the one just below "Career"). The number of Snaps is on the box called Downs. One more thing: Switch the box back to Career before switching players, otherwise MaddenAMP could get into an endless error loop.

I run the 3-4 defense. I SHOULD have posted the Archetypes I'm using, but forgot to do so. Hang on.

Okay. Let's give this a shot. I couldn't actually think of a practice squad. It's a lot harder than I thought if you don't know all the ins and outs. I'm assuming, since you had 90 players, you're using all 2018 roster rules? If you are, then put SS LaMarcus Hicks on IR and return him week 9.

Also, how do you get your system OVR ratings?

For that, I use a spreadsheet. I found how Madden 19 distributes it's OVR weights per position, then I turned those weights into Madden 08 attributes (So, something like Man Coverage turns into Awareness. Power Moves turns into Strength. Finesse Moves into Acceleration and Agility.) There were some tough ones to convert (Like Zone Coverage, which I ended up dividing in thirds and distributing them between Agility, Acceleration and Awareness. Similarly was Pursuit, which I originally distributed it to Awareness, and it stays that way to be honest), but after I totally distribute the points, I alter the calculations a bit so that some players are not underrated (For example, Cliff Avril's Speed Rushing OVR was a little lower than I would have liked, because with 88 Speed, 95 Acceleration and 95 Agility, his only downfall is his rookie Awareness of 59. As such, I altered the OLB overalls to take AWR a tad less and involve more physical skill. That's not shown on the list I posted earlier because I'm recently doing these changes) I think I got the spreadsheet to work like I want it. I attached the version I'm using here. If you want to use if, use MaddenAMP to extract your team's Roster, then paste the entirety of it on the OVR Order sheet, from the B column. Then you order the sheet by OVR, then by PID. You should be able to scroll right and see how the OVRs project for your guys. Additionally, you can check the FORMULAS sheet to see how important each stat is for each archetype and alter it if you so desire.

Anyways, yes. I am using the 2018 roster rules for convenience. As for the roster projection itself, it looks pretty good. I could keep another DB just because I have memories of running out of DBs and WRs from last season. But it certainly looks good.

Finally, here's some insider information, about the subpackages and specialists the Steelers will deploy during the regular season

Code: Select all

SWR (Slot WR)
Hines Ward (93)
Devin Thomas (82)
DeSean Jackson (83)
Cedrick Wilson (84)
Explanation: During 2WR sets, both Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward will both be the receivers. When we deploy 3 WRs, Hines Ward will move to the slot and WR3 (Devin Thomas) will go outside. Similarly, when we deploy 4 WRs, Thomas will move to the slot, and WR4 (DeSean Jackson) will be on the outside. 5WR sets don't follow this rule. Be aware that the true 4WR and 5WR sets will be pretty rare, since I'd rather have TE Heath Miller as a receiver as well as a true receiving back.

3D/RB (3rd Down/Receiving Back)
Willie Parker (96)
Gary Russell (82)
Jamaal Charles (79)
Explanation: Applies to 3rd Downs and 5WR sets. On 3rd Down, this running back will come out as a pass catching option. On 5 WR sets, this back will come out and line up wide or in the slot (I have 2 5WR sets in my playbook, so I have an option for both) as a pass catcher. In this case, Willie Parker is the best pass catching option, as his route running ability is good and pass catching ability is solid enough (70 to Gary Russell's 71 and Jamaal Charles' 65). This running back will also be the tailback in Full House sets.

RDT (Rush Defensive Tackle. Power Rushing DT)
Casey Hampton (98)
Aaron Smith (92)
Brett Keisel (77)
Explanation: During Nickel 2-4-5 and Dime 2-3-6 (4-1-6 Normal, but with OLBs as the DEs), there are 2 Defensive Tackles on the field. These will be those DTs designated to generate pressure from the inside. This also applies to the Nickels 3-3-5, 1-5-5, 1-5-5, Dollar 3-2-6, Dollar 2-3-6 and Quarter 2-2-7 and 1-4-7, This specialist will be on the field on every single subpackage snap.

ER (EDGE Rusher. Speed Rushing OLB or Power Rushing OLB)
James Harrison (Power Rusher: 99+)
Cliff Avril (Speed Rusher: 86)
LaMarr Woodley (Power Rusher: 85)
Lawrence Timmons (Speed Rusher: 93)
Explanation: This applies to Nickels 2-4-5, 1-5-5, 1-5-5 Prowl, Dime 2-3-6, Dollar 2-3-6, Quarter 2-2-7 and Quarter 1-4-7, but only during downs that the coaching staff considers a passing or blitzing down. EDGE Rushing OLBs will help provide pressure during these downs. It should be noted, the ER position fills out the LER (Left Edge Rusher) position first, then the RER position.

SILB (Sub Inside Linebacker. Pass Coverage MLB)
Lawrence Timmons (89)
James Farrior (88)
Larry Foote (87)
Explanation: This applies to Dime 2-3-6, Dollar 3-2-6, Dollar 2-3-6, Quarter 2-2-7 and Quarter 1-4-7. This linebacker will come onto the field as additional support against pass catching backs or tight ends. He can also help contain scrambling QBs in the pocket.

SCB (Slot Cornerback. Slot CB)
Bryant McFadden (93)
Patrick Lee (81)
Justin King (79)
Explanation: This only applies to Nickel, Dime and Dollar packages. When at least 3 CBs are asked on the field, this CB will cover the slot receiver, be it on man or zone coverage. Since Bryant McFadden is a starting CB, CB3 (Justin King) will be on the outside, and McFadden will move to the inside.

It was pretty good. I actually was trying to fit Justin Tryon into the 53 man roster, but I didn't had enough space. I don't usually carry 4 RBs, and I needed to fit in DT Marcus Bell in, so I left Aldridge in the practice squad. I do need to release someone to fit in LaMarcus Hicks eventually.
