Yes. I do my drafts using MaddenAmp and I do not go in and look at the OVRs of the draft class prior to the draft. I only use the scouting information provided in MaddenAmp. That particular DT was rated as a first rounder in MaddenAmp. So, perhaps he's going to be a bust. But I think that is a much more realistic way to conduct the draft as opposed to knowing OVRs in advance.

Gus Bradely Steps Down as Head Coach; Jaguars Promote Doug Marrone
JACKSONVILLE -- On the eve of the 2020 season and in a surprise move, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that head coach Gus Bradley has stepped down and will no longer be employed by the organization. The team also announced that Doug Marrone, who was the team's Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach, would be elevated to the head coaching position on a permanent basis. The Jaguars indicated that they reached a three year agreement with Marrone for the head coaching spot. In his first move as head coach, Marrone has hired Joe Philbin as the team's new offensive coordinator. Philbin will replace Greg Olsen who has been let go by the team. As training camps now wind down, Marrone will have his hands full getting prepared for the upcoming preseason games. The Jaguars will open the preseason at home against the Miami Dolphins.

Jaguars Stay Healthy after 3-1 Preseason
JACKSONVILLE -- One of the primary goals of every training camp and preseason is to get through them with as few injuries as possible. After a 3-1 preseason, the Jaguars will now prepare for the 2020 regular season with a healthy roster. "It is always a luxury to get through the preseason healthy," said new coach Doug Marrone. The biggest question now for Marrone is what kind of a team does he have entering the regular season. Is it the team that steamrolled through the first three games of the preseason, posting blowout wins over the Dolphins, Cowboys and Vikings? Or is it the team that went to Atlanta this past week that had little signs of life during a 35-10 Falcons victory. Granted many of the starters, including QB Blake Bortles, did not play one minute in Atlanta, but coach Marrone could not have been happy with the effort. "You would like to end the preseason on a positive note, but frankly I don't put much stock in preseason contests," said Marrone. One of the bright spots during the preseason was the play of the 2020 rookie class. Rookie WR Lorenzo Gainer showed off his blazing speed and caught 10 balls for 94 yards and a TD during the preseason, while rookie 1st round pick DT Benjamin Oldham recorded a sack, four tackles and a fumble recovery. Two other rookies shined during the preseason, ROLB Randall Clay recorded 8 tackles (2 for loss) and an interception, while rookie CB Deion Simpson recorded two picks and may have secured the team's #3 corner spot. The team's two off-season free agent acquisitions also played well during the preseason. QB Connor Cook completed an impressive 65% of his throws while posting 3 TD passes and appears to have locked down the back-up QB position. Free agent pick up CB Artie Burns got on the stat sheet with two interceptions. The Jaguars will now prepare for the regular season opener against the Bills, the team that knocked them out of the 2019 playoffs. Kick-off Sunday is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Everbank Field.

Four Way Tie Atop AFC South After Week 5
JACKSONVILLE -- For the first time in its history, the AFC South has a four-way tie at the top five games into the season. All four teams now stand at 3-2. "It is odd," stated coach Doug Marrone, "but we hope to break that tie soon." Five games into the season Marrone has to be pleased that his team is healthy, and but for a last second loss in Houston, could be sitting at 4-1. "Yeah, that game in Houston was tough, we let that one slip away for sure," stated QB Blake Bortles. After struggling throughout the 2019 season, Bortles has gotten off to a fast start in 2020. Through the first five games, Bortles is completing passes at a 56% clip, has thrown for 1,402 yards and 12 touchdowns with only six picks. "He is playing well and the office is clicking, we just need to keep that pace going," said Marrone. In addition to Bortles, the receiving corps is off to a blazing start, paced by WR Allen Robinson. Robinson has 25 catches for 481 yards and three TDs. In addition to Robinson, rookie WR Lorenzo Gainer has looked impressive and is currently second on the team with 283 yards receiving while also posting three TDs. TE Julius Thomas has also had a resurgence and leads the team with five TDs after torching the Dolphins for three TDs on Monday night. The defense, which is currently near the bottom of the league in points allowed, has been paced by FS Tashaun Gipson who leads the team in both tackles (35) and interceptions (4). "We definitely need the defense to step up from here on out, they are still a young unit, but they need to come together and decrease the number of big plays they've allowed," stated Marrone. The 3-2 Jaguars will now travel to Green Bay to take on the 2-2 Packers, after which the team will head to London for their October 18th match up with the Broncos.

Jags Run Win Streak to Six
JACKSONVILLE -- After a slow 2-2 start, the Jacksonville Jaguars have now rattled off six consecutive wins and with an 8-2 record sit atop the AFC South one game ahead of the Houston Texans. When asked what has been the key to the Jags win streak, coach Doug Marrone said, "It's been a combination of things, the offense is clicking and the defense has done a good job of holding leads and closing out games. And Blake [Bortles] is back playing at the level he did during our Super Bowl season." During the first ten games, Bortles has posted an impressive 22-8 TD to INT ratio and 291.3 yards per game, good for 2nd in the league. Helping Bortles has been the resurgence of TE Julius Thomas who has been a red zone match-up nightmare for opponents, posting eight TD catches on the season. Defensively, the team has been led by FS Tashaun Gipson (six ints.) and CB Jalen Ramsey (49 tackles, 2 sacks, one forced fumble and three ints.) who are both playing at a Pro Bowl level. The remaining six games on the schedule will see the Jaguars travel to Tennessee this Sunday to take on the 5-4 Titans, the team will then stay on the road for a game against the New York Jets, then close the season with home games against the Vikings, Bears and Colts and a final road game at the division leading Steelers.

Jags Clinch AFC South, Will Battle Steelers for #2 Seed
JACKSONVILLE -- With a resounding 38-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars have clinched the AFC South title and at least one home game for the 2020 NFL playoffs. The win provided the team the positive momentum needed as they head towards the post-season. The three games leading into the contest against Indy were nearly catastrophic as the team lost in OT at the Jets, lost by six at home to the Vikings and then saw starting QB Blake Bortles leave the game with an early injury against Chicago. With Bortles on the sideline, back-up QB Connor Cook came in and led the team to a shaky 10-6 win. "It wasn't pretty, but we got it done," said Cook. The good news was that Bortles sustained only a mild concussion, passed the league's concussion protocol during the week and returned against the Colts. And, his return was impressive. Versus Indy, Bortles completed 62% of his passes for 388 yards, four touchdowns and one pick. "Everything felt good, it was an important team win," stated Bortles after the game. The Jaguars now must travel to Pittsburgh for the regular season finale against the 12-3 Steelers. A lot is riding on the game as the winner will become the AFC's #2 seed in the playoffs and earn a first round bye. "It is always a battle against them, particularly up there, we have to come ready, it's huge game," said coach Doug Marrone. Kick-off at Heinz Field is slatted for 9:00 p.m. Monday.
