I think most of us saw this coming. It's sad, but I just don't think another professional football league will ever succeed in the US. Even the ones that were successful to some degree ended up either folding and having a few teams absorbed into the NFL (AAFC) or merged into the NFL (AFL). All others just fell flat and folded after a few years.

I couldn't help notice a comment on that article that said the AAF was trying to strike a deal with the NFL and get ahead of the XFL.

It seems to me Tom Dumbdumb pulled a Donal Trump and ended up killing a league.

The rumblings started in week 2... no matter the fact..they jumped to fast...and I think they went into the wrong cities. The more I think about it maybe an 8 team league is too much, What would have happened if they started with a 6 team league top 2 play for the Championship. The most important thing is not to make the expectations so high....They did..think.. the XFL( first time around )and now the AAF..made themselves sound like saviors. the last spring league that lasted more than 2 years was WLAF (then the NFLEurope). It seems that the NFL is the key..there has to be some partnership with the NFL & NFLPA

It's amazing to me the number of times you see people invest significant amounts of money into something every average joe could tell you is going to fail. Just amazing.

I actually really liked AAF but it's just too expensive. Developmental league would need backing of NFL. NFL is not gonna do that. They now it is going to run on a loss for years. Football is not basketball.
