New York Yankees: Quest for 28

Postby RevanFan » Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:00 pm

I am doing a franchise with the New York Yankees in MLB 2k11. The Yankees have an updated roster, but none of the other teams do (with MLB 2k12 out today, and knowing that I will eventually get it, I didn't see the need.) The Yankees are completely up to date, and I am starting in Spring Training. I am playing each game with the same lineups as the real life game (even though the schedule isn't the same, they play the same amount of games.) I have already played two games, so I will just post the stats from those games, the total stats so far, the current roster, and the injury report for my team.

I hope you enjoy.

Total stats after two Spring Training games

Making the stats look good inside the code tags takes too long, and there are too many stats, so will just upload the file for the total stats. Download the zip posted below, and read the text file inside for the stats.

I would do a journal on a baseball team.......but the problem is MLB 2k08 is a really bad game (for PC). My version doesn't even have spring training. Are you playing the Xbox 360 or PS3 version, or is the newer version for PC just better? Plus (in MLB 2k08) there isn't even a 40-man roster, it's just the 25-man MLB roster, AAA, AA, A, etc.

The game started off quickly for the Yankees, with two straight doubles from Granderson and Swisher, followed by Ibanez getting on base on an E7, which was immediately followed by a throwing error on the same play (by the same fielder), scoring Swisher and giving the Yankees an early 2-0 lead. The Tigers didn't have the same luck in the first, getting two hits off of Michael Pineda, but no runs. The second inning went by very quickly, with both sides going down 1-2-3. The third inning had Gardner get a lead off hit, but try to stretch it and get caught in a rundown. He was followed by Curtis Granderson, who hit the ball so hard, it landed in the river. 3-0 Yankees. Swisher flew out, and Ibanez doubled. After the Ibanez double, Chavez lined one right past the pitcher, hitting it perfectly for an RBI single. 4-0 Yankees. Martin then struck out swinging, ending the inning for the Yankees. For the bottom half of the inning, the Yankees brought in 2011 breakout setup man Dave Robertson. He, as usual, led a very quick 1-2-3 inning, throwing only 7 pitches. The game then started to go by quickly. In the top of the fifth, the Yankees had two runners on, but didn't score. The game got pretty dull until the bottom of the sixth, when Adam Miller came in to pitch. He gave up 3 runs quickly, and just barely regained enough composure to finish the inning. 4-3 Yankees. Nothing else really happened until the bottom of the ninth. 4-3, Yankees in the lead, Ryan Pope came on to pitch, and he gave up two quick singles. Adam Warren started warming up, and Joe Girardi came out to have a chat with Pope. After a pep talk from the coach, Pope retired three straight, and the Yankees won. Granderson was the player of the game, going 3-3 with a homer and a double. Pope came away with the save, with Dan Burawa getting the win.

The Bronx Bombers are now 2-1 in Spring Training.

MLB 2k11 for PC is very good, with 40-man rosters, full Spring Training, and it allows you to play every game of the MLB, AAA, and AA seasons. MLB 2k12, which came out today, is supposed to be even better, with better gameplay and catcher animations.
