Historic Roster Project

Postby Sidelion » Thu Mar 29, 2012 12:00 am

This might be bad practice while my journal stagnates, but I'd like to begin on a proper historic roster mod for '08 in the vein of MuscleMike OR fix the players on his converted roster for '08. The historic teams are one of the biggest reasons '04 and '08 trump most of the new Maddens.

My questions at this point are:

1. What's the best method and tool for creating rosters? What about editing the players on a roster?

2. Is there anyway to assign a playbook to a team? If not, then is there a way to fix Madden's inability to allow custom playbooks for AI-only games?

3. Is there a certain way to fix the AI's habit of stupidity with a lot of custom playbooks? (As in staying in the I-Form the whole game.)

4. Is it even remotely feasible to attempt to recreate and rate pre-war NFL teams, considering the vastly different physical standards and two-way players?
"Why do you go away? So that you can come back.
So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors.
And the people there see you differently, too."

1. NZA 1.3, the DB editor, and the game itself. I create players in-game, and do any post creation editing in NZA 1.3. If you ever need to import players into a roster, use the DB editor.

2. I think so, but I'm not a playbook guy, and thus am not sure.

3. Probably not.

4. It's possible, but very difficult. It requires a lot of data file editing, especially this table of the DB_Templates file.

Was going to make a list of 08's historic teams, but thanks nonetheless.

Anyways, Madden egregiously omits teams like the '95 Lions and '62 Packers and has rather undeserving teams like the '70 Browns included instead. The aim of this project is to fix that.

Do what? I never asked for anyone's assistance in particular.

I appreciate your effort but right now I don't need any help. Sorry.

You should definetly include the 1990s cardinals team you had in the list of teams that you put aside. Also, consider making the 2008 cardinals SB team, since that really was the best team we ever had by far. I am really looking forward to this roster. If you need any help just ask.

Anyway I think the cardinals at least deserve to have the 1990s team you cut from the list. Also, consider making the 2008 SB cardinals a team, since they really are the best team we ever had.
