to make rosters from the 20s to the 50s (since we only have the specific magazines on the internet from the 60s onwards), the internetarchive has several very detailed books telling the history of the NFL, obviously it would be better to have access to magazines like SPORT, ProFootball illustrated , Football digest , Dimefootball and others . In the case of the 50's, SI did a of coverage of the great college prospects , giving an idea of the profiles of the players.
From the 50's there's a book dedicated to the 50's, talking, at least, about the main teams and players and a GIANTS QB diary talking about the experience of what it was like to play a game in the early 50's.
