Greetings btw everybody. Been playing football games since the Intellivision but haven't been into Madden since the PS2 days. Didn't like any of the more modern stuff I tried, as it had this really 'automated' feel to it, with the cpu seemingly wrestling control away for the sake of these slow/long animations. For me the big problem with modern sports games is they want everything to be almost photo realistic in animations and presentation. So it makes some of the games feel somewhat automated and little laggy/not very responsive. They aren’t twitch fun like sports actually are or like the older versions of the games were more like. I think the gameplay hasn't really caught up with the presentation they're trying to present and their priority is looks over everything else....I know, shocking when it comes to modern AAA gaming.
Anyway, enough of the tangent. I was getting in the mood to play some digital football again with playoffs in the air..(busted out my old VCR and all the classic NFL films tapes I had too
)
So I started messing with NFL2K5 on PS2 but also remembered really enjoying Maddens 2005. So I went looking into that and updated rosters for it but then started hearing about 2008 for PC on places like operation sports, reddit.. They were saying it ran on the same engine as the PS2/Xbox games but supported better graphics, textures, run at much higher resolutions, all the mods for it, the still going community, ect.... So here I am.
Probably a better post for the introduction thread or whatever, but I spent a lot of the night installing all the mods and such and everything seems to be working good so far (not that I've even played a snap yet) Hope I like the game.
