Heisman 14 The "DAT Land" Edition

Postby lionsfan » Sat Dec 14, 2013 7:04 pm

Here is the thread for the DAT edition of Heisman 14....

Why do a DAT edition?

A) Some members cannot run TexMod on their edition of Madden 08, or some of the more casual users just prefer the permanent changes of a DAT mod.

B) This will definitely enhance everyone's knowledge on DAT modding and we may be able to start figuring more and more out about the DAT files.

C) A DAT edition will be able to hold all of the teams in the Heisman mod on one roster. This will make it a lot easier for roster building moving forward.

If you are one of the following a DAT edition may be right for you

A) If you are lazy.

B) If you are more of a casual gamer and do not care to much about the graphics quality.

C) If TexMod doesn't work for you.

Please note* I recommend and probably always will recommend the TexMod editions of the mod... You can find them here...

Downsides to a DAT edition

just so everyone knows....

A) All around lower quality.

B) No custom shoes, no custom equipment, no custom field textures and a lot of other things we are unable to do with DAT mods (at least so far).

C) few uniforms and stadiums. Many less uniform combinations.

Okay so here is the game plan...

I am not very familiar with DAT editing or MER or DEX (many because they crash so flipping much for me). So I will probably not be doing much at all for this edition... I will provide the things to be converted and maybe do a few other things but that is about it... This is a community mod, if the community wants it, they will have to work for it.

Here is what I need from one of the uniform graphic gurus... I need a template or base .uni file, so that we can all be on the same page. Here is what I was thinking, if possible (like I said earlier I know pretty much nothing about DAT editing)

Code: Select all

8 bit uniform parts (we don't need 32 bit anything)...
Helmet (512x256)
Jersey (512x512)
Sleeve (512x128)
Hip (512x128)
Leg (256x256)

8 bit numbers (123x246???)
Not sure about number dimensions, any ideas?

Like I said earlier... We all have our "2 cents" (or 4 if your Elguapo  ) let's buy ourselves a Heisman 14 DAT mod.

IF YOU ARE WILLING TO HELP OUT SHOUT IT OUT IN THIS THREAD OR SEND ME A PM!

Oh lionsfan, you crack me up! (You know the bit I mean ;) )
But kudos for your pro's and cons; it's good to get all that out of the way early.
As you know, I'm pretty clueless about dat-editing, so I'm not gonna be able to offer much here. But I admire you for starting this off, and you have my full support further down the line.

I would pitch in a few dollars for a Dat mod :D Seeing as how I have none to less than no knowledge on modding aside from putting your downloads in my games directory haha

I'd like to revisit this since we know how edit 3D Models and make custom equipment.

Actually I don't know...
Wouldn't it make more sense to make a Heisman 16/17 then to work on a "DAT LAND" version of 14?

If the plan is to make a DAT version then I believe making one from scratch would be more advisible to keep from what happened with the Heisman convert.

I had been working on an NCAA roster, it's still a "bare bones" where everything pretty much needs to be filled in. I will try to upload it later tonight so you can see what it will look like.
