Tutorial: How to Make Custom Endzones

Postby Kevin5455 » Sat May 06, 2017 5:20 pm

EDIT: Practicing this will help a lot!!!!

1. Open Microsoft Paint

2a. Go to Home Tab, click on "Resize"

2b. Click on "Pixels" option and uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio"

2c. For Horizontal, type in 1024, for Vertical type in 256

3. Pick your color for the BACKGROUND (ex: brown)

4a. Click on the “Text” option (the bolded A)

4b. Click and drag the textbox so it fit’s with the background/box

4c. The RECOMMENDED font is 136 and BOLDED. Change the color of your font (ex: orange)

4d. Type in the name of your team and try to center the name (press space and try to get the name in the middle or adjust the text box)

5a. Click “File” then click “Save As”

5b. Name your file to whatever your team name is

5c. IMPORTANT: SAVE AS TYPE: 256 Color BMP (BITMAP)

6. You might get a message that says “The color quality might be reduced…” Click YES.

7. Close Microsoft Paint

8. Open Paint.Net and open your endzone

9. Find the colors you ORIGINALLY used from Microsoft Paint for the endzone.

10. Click “Save” (NOT SAVE AS)

It should probably look something like this:

Just curious as to why you would save as a bmp instead of a png file?

Because he making this for the "CUSTOM ART" folders. I know very little of this area, but it is my understanding only .bmp images are accepted.

I have heard a lot about .dat conversion degrades the quality of the image. Is that true or is that just because you have to use bmp images to make the conversion?

I've seen some really low quality dat conversions, but I've also seen some really high quality ones. I don't know what causes the variation, but it may have something to do with encoding.

Well, the "CUSTOM ART" folders are a completely different animal. Now, I have never learned about that side of Madden, but I wouldn't exactly call it ".dat converting". BUS36 and elguapo each know a lot about the custom art endzones, helmets, ect. Perhaps one of them can chime in.

On the subject of dat conversions, I'd go with RevanFan's take.

Just to give some perspective, I'm using pick6's templates for midfield and field of play and was hoping there is such an animal for end zones as well. There may be but I haven't been able to find it yet.

Woah, I forgot about this thread. ;)
This is the most basic and easiest way...unless you want to do it pick6 style.

You are using two paint programs to make a basic BMP file. (step 1, 8).

Here's a tutorial using Paint.NET
