I'll probably do it again anyway

The thing about the shoes, is the palettes in question can be changed, unlike the skins, unless we find them somehow..

I was wondering earlier today if anyone has ever extracted all the textures in PLADATA, opened each one, set color to RGB, then converted the images (one by one) to indexed color using a 256 color gif palette or 217 web palette? I know doing that for one texture would screw up the palette sharing, but what if every palette were uniform?

We could still edit textures after that too; just change color mode to RGB, edit to your heart's desire, then re-index it when you finish and convert it back to the palette.

The only obstacle I can think of is team colors screwing up textures, but there is a way around it which would be removing the 64 team colors from the palette (if they're even in the web or gif palette, many/most of them wouldn't be) and/or replacing them with a very similar but different color value.

#1) Does changing the shoe image alter any other equipment....is there palette sharing between the shoes and/or wristbands, elbow pads, etc?
#2) Is it possible to run multiple brands of shoes at the same time? Like with texmd, for example. A nike in the main shoe slot, UA in the TC Tape slot.

1. Yes, so ultimately its gotta work with those other pieces, but theres ways to make it work.

2. Yes, dependant upon mee working his magic with the Tmdl/model

Here's the fixed taped shoe model..
Pladata.dat
Fix tap model.zip
(590.94 KiB) Downloaded 93 times

And I imported the default shoe into the tape shoe texture and...

I did some more playing, and I can confirm the ability to get 6 different shoe styles just from the taped shoe slot.
However, the 2 that are under the non-taped section share a palette with 2 from the taped slot. (No tape and white tape share a slot, both in TC colored shoes and if not).

That's the only downside, so those 2 (no tape and white tape) would have to be able to work with the same color layout or just have a general rule to not use one or the other. But either way this is still awesome, we're at least going from 2 unique colorways to 6.

This is badass.

You guys may have already discussed this, so I apologize if I missed it -
Does this eliminate all ankle tape options?

Yes

I think it's a fair trade.
