Is there no way around that?
I can't comment on that, since TexMod and my laptop don't like eachother.

Well, I could take the color of the grass and make the background that color, but that's kind of complicated.

There are a couple tricks I use... one is to use pick6's TrueTurf and cut and paste a plain green endzone and then "paint" your endzone art on top of that, see below pic. Also, for both midfields and endzones, I sometimes create them slightly larger with a green background (green that matches your grass or turf field), then I resize it down to the correct size before selecting the green color as the transparency (this will create a slight green outline that blends better in the game). The other trick is, using paint.net, select the entire images (or at least around the area you want to blend better) and then use the Move Selected Pixels tool to slightly reduce the size of the area which will slightly blur the edges and add some slightly transparent pixels to the edges which help with the blending.
