Is there an easy way to create a 14 or 16 team franchise for Madden 08? I play in an on-line league and we only have 14, sometimes 16, teams.

yeah ... use the DB editor and do some schedule editing. You take the 16 teams that you do not want and you move them to NFL Europe. Schedule them to play against each other so they cancel themselves out and then you fix a schedule so your 16 teams play against each other.
With the 16 teams you do not want relegated to NFL Europe, they will not show up in the standings or qualify for the playoffs and their players are not eligible for the Pro Bowl or other awards.
