Yea I have to deal with doctors a lot and they can be cocky jerks sometimes.....it's nice when I get to serve them a DOSE of humble pie and tell them they were wrong.... hehehehe
Even in non-health stuff really for life in general always get a 2nd opinion when making important decisions.

Feel free to check this guide about normal T3 and T4 levels. Basically they do a blood test to see how much T3 and T4 are floating around in the bloodstream.
I had my TSH and T4 tested, T4 was in range but TSH was low. They didn't test T3 for some reason. I had a swallow test earlier this week and passed, so it's likely not an esophageal obstruction. Ultrasound and initial endocrine appointment is scheduled for mid October which isn't too far away.
I had done the keto diet, without extra added fat, for about a year and responded well to it and felt great. Then had my first BP and heart palpitations last fall and was taken off of it and put on DASH diet. I stuck to it and cut out excess sodium for about 4 months, gained over 40 pounds in 11 months. Now I'm eating a lot of homemade soups, beans & rice, and small servings of only lean meats and I've lost 14 pounds relatively quickly. Can't go back on keto because cardiology found an ascending aortic aneurysm on an echocardiogram while looking at my heart valves. It doesn't need surgery yet, might not ever, but I have to limit caffeine, any and all stimulants, excess salts, alcohol, etc. to keep my BP normal and my risk of plaque low.
Thanks for the info and advice, I'll ask the endocrine doctor to test my T3 when I see him/her.

Thanks a lot man. I'm meditating regularly now which is new, and also praying more than before, which if nothing else, doing both is significantly reducing stress and fatigue.

Praying God gives you good health and healing in the upcoming weeks. Idk if this may work for you but I lost 70 lbs just by switching from colas to water, eating peanuts (unsweetened/natural) and bananas whenever I had "food cravings" and drinking tons of water. I stopped eating potato chips/junk food and decreased my soft/drink/juice input. It was hard but once your body gets adjusted to the "new normal" level of blood sugar your body just melts the fat and other bad stuff away. Again I would consult with your doctor before changing your diet of any sort. I would recommend to anyone doing what I did. I ate my meal but saved room for "dessert" which usually was some kind of fruit (banana, apple, orange) I had put in the fridge (b/c I like cold fruit as a refreshment) and ate that with my meal to "fill me up" and drink 1 glass of water with the meal or preferably 2 if you can. I went from 220lbs to 145 lbs just by doing this over a year. I have a bad knee so I did some excercise but not too heavy on the legs but just walked here and ther when I had time. Anyway hopefully you get your health back and I will continue praying for you! God Bless. - U77

That won't help with thyroid issues most likely, but that's definitely a good plan for losing weight. Really, cutting out basically any liquid that isn't water and replacing it with water is huge. Not even just for weight, but for anything. Coffee is okay too (though caffeine isn't great), but personally I think coffee is disgusting. And fruits and vegetables are essential for a reason. Tons of natural vitamins and minerals, and they contain natural sugar that is actually somewhat beneficial. Way more so than the horrible processed stuff in... well... everything here in America. Combine fruits and vegetables with nuts and occasionally some fish (or sometimes chicken) and you might have a pretty decent diet. Maybe I should take my own advice haha?

Re: I have a thyroid nodule
Yea all of that sounds like a good diet plan. Unfortunately because of the aorta aneurysm the cardiologist and PCP want me on grains and potatoes and similar. Extremely low fat to keep plaque down and blood pressure so my aorta doesn't balloon any larger and dissect or rupture (and kill me).
I'm trying to stay mostly close to the DASH diet and especially cut fat. I love shrimp so shrimp and chicken in soups or steamed rice and veggies is fine by me. Plus calories in, calories out is still tried and true. I'm positive I'll learn a lot more about everything when I see my endocrine doctor. Thyroids cause all kinds of different weight loss/gain issues depending on the condition from what I understand.
Thanks for the well wishes and prayers!

Re: I ***DON'T*** have a thyroid nodule :D
Not a thyroid nodule! Still have to follow up with G.I. because it might be a growth in my esophagus, so I'll have to do a scope so they can see everything on video. Waiting on thyroid blood work follow up, might just need to take a thyroid hormone, but I get to keep it and it will still be functional and not "nuked".
Not completely out of the woods because if it is a growth in my esophagus then it's probably esophageal cancer (which is way, way worse than thyroid nodules), however my endocrine doctor said he's leaning towards the thyroid causing some of the issues, and esophageal spasms causing the chest pains. Still in wait and see mode, but at least I don't have to nuke my thyroid or have my thyroid removed.

I was gonna say that's a relief, but it's really not. But, at least it's progress. Hopefully you'll get to the bottom of it soon, and I wish you good luck.

Good luck, my thoughts are with you and your family. My girlfriend has been reading this thread with way too much enthusiasm (she's a final year dietetic student and they just went over all the relevant information to this thread). Keep us posted.

Great to hear this progress. Hopefully you'll get better. Will include you in our prayers.
