What Are You Watching?

Postby RevanFan » Sat May 13, 2017 1:05 am

If we have threads for music and games, why not TV and movies? I watched Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 today, and I've been watching 30 Rock on Netflix. Plus the normal Marvel stuff of course, Agents of SHIELD most prevalent right now.

Also, I have to share this.

"LOGAN" is a decent watch.
I enjoyed it, even though I've only seen one of the previous "X-Men" titles.

I still haven't seen it yet. I'm going to get it on Blu-ray though.

As for the other X-Men movies, here's how I rate them.

X-Men - Great
X2 - Great
X-Men: The Last Stand - Ugh. Not as horrible as most people say, but definitely not good.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Kill me now. Horrible movie.
X-Men: First Class - Very good
The Wolverine - Pretty good
X-Men: Days of Future Past - Great
Deadpool - Great
X-Men: Apocalypse - Average
Logan - Not yet seen

As far as I know, "LOGAN" is canon with those previous story lines.
But from what I've read, it's filmed in a completely different style.

I recommend it

It is, which is why I included it in the list. But, the canon of that universe is spotty. It's been rewritten twice with time travel.

Ah, alternate timelines....the filmaker's "mulligan".
What, our fans hated that charcter death?!? TIME TRAVEL - BRILLIANT!!
It can be pretty lame sometimes.

Although, some great movies are centered around time travel; Flight of The Navigator, The Time Machine (not "Hot Tub Time Machine")
and of course Back to The Future. Paybe GREAT is too strong a discription.

Well, the X-Men movie that did time travel was the best one, in my opinion, and it erased the worst ones.

Recently I saw that movie Storks... Everybody had been saying it was so good, but I thought it was a piece of trash. A literal piece of trash.

I can imagine the writer saying, "Let's make a feel-good movie about a girl getting reunited with her family! It doesn't matter what the rest of the film is about; just come up with some random s***. Maybe something about storks. And throw some gay stuff in at the end, to make everybody happy."

Those kids movies are all garbage anyway these days. It doesn't matter what the movie is about, as long as it's a cartoon, parents will indefinitely take their kids to see it, and the studio will indefinitely make money. It's so stupid. Entertainment is retarded.

That's why I hate kids movies.

Really? You heard Storks was good? I heard it was crap.

Some kids stuff is awesome, if it's written not to be "kids good" but to be just "good." Pixar has a lot of great movies. The Lion King is a great movie. Zootopia was pretty good. And as for "kids" stuff on TV, I will always love the first three seasons of Spongebob, along with other late-90s, early-00s Nickelodeon stuff. And the greatest animated show of all time, in my opinion, is Avatar: The Last Airbender. I loved it when I was 9 and I love it still to this day. Legend of Korra, being from the same writers, was also quite great. It falls in just behind Avatar, Futurama, and Rick and Morty in my animated TV list.

What has children's entertainment become?
I always hate it when people bring up "OH, IT'S 4 KIDS!!!", but do kids need dumb humor? Look at the first few seasons of Spongebob. That was nowhere near pure stupidity, and it still is funny to everyone to this day. Today, what we have is cartoons filled with fart jokes, idiot characters, horrible humor, and "trendy" references that makes nobody want to ever sit down and watch it 20 years into the future.

Instead of dumbing down our children with this garbage, why don't we expose them to some better cartoons?
