Eastern Conference Semi-Finals 2012

Postby Argos5 » Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:08 pm

What a great game the Toronto Argonauts played on Sunday in their quest to play for the 2012 Grey Cup in their home stadium of Rogers Centre in Toronto. They faced the Edmonton Eskimos in the first week of the playoffs, the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Edmonton was the cross-over team this year from the West. Ricky Ray and the Double Blue (Argos) got down 7-0 after the 1st quarter, but put up a CFL playoff record 31 unanswered points, which featured a 50+ yard punt return by Chad Owens "The Flyin' Hawaiian", and a quarter back draw touchdown by Ricky Ray, in the 2nd quarter taking a commanding lead going in at half-time. The second half the Eskies put in their backup QB Matt Nichols who got pounded on a huge sack and left the game after what looked like a broken knee, later to be reveled to be a separated ankle, ouch! It was a scary sight! The Argonauts finished the game 42 - 26 and now advance to play the Montreal Alouettes in Montreal at Olympic Stadium next Sunday for the Eastern Conference Finals. If they can make it past Montreal they would get to play for the 100th Grey Cup in their home stadium, as the City of Toronto is hosting the Grey Cup this year. Go Argos Go!!!!

Also, the Calgary Stampeders beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 36-30 in a battle that came right down to the end with Calgary intercepting a Saskatchewan pass on the goal line to end the game. Calgary will face the B.C. Lions next Sunday in the Western Conference Finals.

Don't forget what happened last time when we played Montreal at the Big O...

I think Toronto will get steamrolled by Montreal who have much more big-game experience. Calgary v BC seems tougher to pick.

Well on the optimistic side, this year's Als team is weakest they've been in years. If the Argos can put up points to keep up with the Als, they have a chance.

Yeah, the Alouettes aren't the strongest this year. Once Anthony Calvillo retires I think the Argos will be the dominant team in the East.
