is not a surprise, since the cap rise every year... IMO Detroit don't have a franchise quarterback since 58... so is the price...

STafford is a good qb but does not deserve a crazy contract like that (but such is the salary standard after the other qb's set the market) ....
he hasn't done anything worth while in the playoffs when the real chips are down....he's better than most avg starters but even tony romo has had more playoff success than stafford....to get paid that well means he better live up to the hype this year and advance his team in the playoffs otherwise that contract will look utterly ridiculous if the lions fall to 9-7 or worse with stafford as a full time starter....

The NFL is at a point where every new contract for a good or great player, as long as they have name value, is going to be the "largest contract ever", at least for their position.
