The 49ers signed Billy Cundiff to compete with Akers during the playoffs. That in itself says how bad Akers is.

I would draft a kicker. Y'know, like last year, Blair Walsh and Greg Zurlein....?

Or even just take a leap of faith and sign a young, untested player like Kai Forbath. I know finding a diamond like Forbath is rare, but it's the offseason, so it's not like it's going to kill their chance at the playoffs.

To update the discussion about Lions kickers, Detroit recently signed a guy by the name Havard Rugland better known as "Kickalicious" (ugh, well, I guess "Crazy Legs" was already taken..) They signed him after a video of trick kicks appeared on the nets, if you want to get 4 minutes of kicks that practically will never be needed in the actual NFL here's the video:
The kid knows how to kick a ball that's for sure. It'd have been better if he made some kicks in different wind conditions and in pressure.
Im personally not sold on guys that do these "trick plays" videos, Alex Tanney did it some time ago and then he went undrafted and is know currently at the bottom of the depth chart in the Kansas City QB position

To me, it looks like he belongs with the Jets. They seem to like swallowing up sensational players, so I'm sure they could find a place on the field for a... errr..... errrrrr......... "boatkicker"?
Edit: Never mind, the Jets looked at him last year and didn't sign him.

lol totally agree, he looks like the kind of guy the Jets would look at, BTW take this with a grain of salt but it has been reported that JaMarcus Russell is getting some possible interest with the Jets, just when you think the circus couldn't get funnier..

Hmm. If they do sign him, they should trade for Alex Tanney. Russell, Tanney, Garrard, Tebow, Sanchez, and McElroy all fighting for the starting job - I'd pay good money to see that.
