What in the #$%@

Postby 1312qohelet » Fri Apr 28, 2017 12:49 am

The Bears are now ruined for the next 5 years....at minimum.
I'm laughing and crying at the same time. This is a complete joke.

What does los Angeles want another NFL team???
Bears could be next to move to la-la land

What in the #$%@

If they left Chicago they'd never have a fan again. They're one of the teams that just CANNOT leave, ever.

Trubisky could end up being good. Give him a chance first.

When I saw this pick, I was very confused. Until I found out the Bears drafted him.
What a complete joke. Trubisky is NEVER going to develop under that crappy offense/offensive-line.
Think he will develop? Look what happened to Jay Cutler. And mark my words, Trubisky is the Mark Sanchez of the future.

I just came here to commiserate with 1312 because of this pick. Sorry dude. :(

Thanks for support kevin.

RevanFan - Thanks for the optimism, it is needed now, more than ever.
The move to L.A. was a joke. I was comparing what the Rams gave up, in order to draft Goff, to the Bears current situation.
I actually see things from your point of view. I'm willing to give the kid a chance....he has a big fat chance to shut all of the hater's mouths.
I am more bummed out for what they gave to move up one lousy spot.
They got pimp-slapped by John Lynch and 49ers and they're happy about it.

Time will tell....such is life.
I was just bummed out last night for a while.
Now I am curious to see the progress and I really hope he does well.
But, I fear they may have put too much pressure on him now. I actually feel bad for the young man.

I'm actually surprised. I thought Chicago wanted this.

Oh goodness no, my friend.
Only 2 people in Chicago wanted this; Bears President Ted Phillips and GM Ryan Pace.
As the article states, Head Coach John Fox didn't even know, until the morning of Draft Day.

In my opinion, Phillips and Pace hid their plan from Fox, because Fox would buck against it.
Fox is not that good of a coach anymore, but even he is smart enough to know this was a colossal mistake.

Phillps and Pace have a serious Man-crush on Trubisky. It s actually really creepy.
I read an artcle yesterday that reported GM Pace says "He has visions of Tom Brady and Gronk when he looks at Trubisky and Shaheen".
Shaheen, being the Division II tight end they selected in the 2nd round.
These guys are delusional. Stay the heck away from whatever they're smoking.

If these reports are true, even partially, then this franchise in falling down a bottomless pit.
I mean hiding your true draft plan from your Head Coach until the day of round 1? Wow. Bush League....pure Bush League.

Well, I'm not superstitious, so I don't pay much attention to curses. I guess anything's possible.
One thing I do believe in....stupidity.

And I want to be clear; I do not blame the players.

I've followed the NFL since before Aikman & co. won a Super Bowl.

I've been following NCAAF and the draft since the mid-90's.

Mitchell Trubisky = Akili Smith.

Eerily so, even. Especially with the whole surprise-Senior season.

The down side is Akili went #3 overall instead of #2, and threw for more TDs and yards his senior season and also had a higher yards per attempt and QB rating. Even athletically they're comparable.

Did I mention Akili is on most "biggest draft busts" lists?

On a side-note, Pat Mahomes has the worst mechanics and pocket presence I've ever seen from a QB drafted in the top 10. Leaf, Russell, Harrington, and Couch all had much better mechanics and pocket awareness, and they all had "arm talent" too.

There wasn't a franchise QB in this draft. Unsurprisingly, teams continue to draft QBs really high and also overpay them (stares at Mike Glennon for several awkward seconds) since the franchise-level talent variety is so rare.

On another side-note, the Mark Sanchez FA signing as the #2 QB was a smokescreen. Makes more sense now than it did earlier in the off-season.

Also, last side-note I swear, Connor Shaw is the most talented QB on the Bears roster. He was undrafted out of S.Carolina. Reminds me of a short Andrew Luck with a bit less "arm talent". Didn't toss the rock as much in college, but he is athletic, outside the pocket he wants to throw rather than run, has good on-field presence, and only threw one pick his senior season. It really is too bad he has osteogenesis imperfecta like Mr. Glass from Unbreakable.
