Philadelphia Eagles: 3-0

Postby ycleped » Sun Sep 25, 2016 8:12 pm

I'm so sick of everyone trying to discredit this team. Last season we finished 7-9, second best in the NFC East. We didn't look terrible, and we were better than both the Cowboys and Giants.

Yet.... we were completely disrespected in the power rankings. Some sites had us at 31 coming into the season, despite our 4-0 preseason.

We got rid of all of our problems. Chip Kelly's fraudulent offensive scheme being the largest - we were LAST in the NFL in average TOP with only 25 minutes on offense each game. The no-huddle offense that cycled the same 5 plays over and over again clearly didn't work, and somehow it kept on going the entire season. There were no gameplan adjustments under a coach that thought he was the smartest man on the field and that if the offense was stalling, it was the players' fault for not executing because his scheme was clearly the most superior offense the NFL had ever seen.

Oh, and by the way, he figured that the defense needed no resting time.

Defense was no better, trying to fit square pegs into round holes. We had 4-3 DEs and DTs, yet Kelly INSISTED that we run a 3-4 scheme. That didn't work. For 3 seasons straight.

He insisted that his team be made up of all his "chosen" guys - Sam Bradford, Kiko Alonso, Byron Maxwell, Eric Rowe, DeMarco Murray, and plenty more. All failures under his "system". A guy that valued atmosphere over skill, a guy that cut DeSean Jackson, traded LeSean McCoy, and refused to contact Jeremy Maclin, letting him to to KC.

We dumped all of our problems. We retained our true talent. We hired a whole new coaching staff that had actual success in the NFL - Pederson in KC, Reich in SD, and Schwartz in Detroit and Buffalo. We drafted an amazing and intelligent guy with nothing but potential at #2 overall to be our franchise QB. We switched back to the 4-3. We went 4-0 in the preseason. Yet.... we received no respect whatsoever.

Why did so many "experts" underestimate the amount of talent this team truly had? How could they not see the true issues of fraudulent Kelly? We finished 7-9 being held back only by coaching and management.

Finally, this team as a whole, not just the defense (which by the way is a top 5 defense in the league) will earn the respect it deserves.

No turnovers and leading the NFL in time of possession at 37 minutes per game.

Oh, and we just demolished one of the consensus "top" teams in the league - a team 90% of people projected us to lose to.

Lookout NFL: the Philadelphia Eagles are back. And with vengeance.

I wasn't sure if Wentz would be able to handle starting so early on, but he's been good. He's been really good. I did believe he'd be better than Goff, but I didn't think he'd be starting before Goff.

You won't hear, or see me dis-credit them.
They rolled over my beloved Chicago last week. This week, they actually got better.
I see that continuing

I like Schwartz's defense. May The Schwartz be with your Eagles this year.

I hated him when he coached the Lions, but he is an intelligent coordinator.

I've always felt that way about Wade Phillips. Not so good as a head coach, but certainly a good coordinator.

Definitely.
Phillips is a highly regarded defensive mind.

I agree. Carson Wentz has shown he knows what he's doing. The Eagles are gonna soar this year.

everyone underestimated the eagles 'cause

1) no one believe Wentz will be ready to start...
2) there was great uncertainty after Kelly's out...

But we have to agreed... Bears and Browns are obligations..
if you not with both... you will have the first pick of the 2017 Draft...
