I have almost the exact same issue as OP after going through almost all the exact same "cures". Any chance someone can take a peek at my franchise as well? Hard to walk away from a franchise in the 2025 season

you can always convert file into a new roster. then make a new file.

When Revanfan examined my franchise, he did notice that there was a problem with the number of coaches on each team. That didn't solve my problem but maybe it could fix yours.

Well, I just found the solution to my big problem. There was a player who had a one year contract worth $700K but the problem was that he was making $700K total and $0 as a base salary. I sometimes add players at cheaper prices than they demand in free agency, so the incorrect contract was the result of my error in typing in the contract in the NZA editor. I must have only searched by total salary instead of base salary when I hunted for glitched contracts, so I completely missed him. We now know that a crash during "Initializing Roster Management" is caused by players with glitched contracts.

I am frustrated about this not just because I missed one player but because I went on to try and revive my franchise by converting it into a roster. I had put plenty of hours into the new version of the franchise just to find out that it crashed at the exact same place again (I raged when this happened). That's when I finally found this guy with the glitched contract and that solved everything... but it wasted a whole ton of my time. But at least the original file is fixed and good to go.

I go to roster management, then I select All Players on All Teams. I then double-click on the Total Contract and Salary tabs at the top, and this sorts them. When sorted, you can see the highest and lowest salaries. If any are at $0M during the regular season, then that contract is glitched.

No, free agents should never have contracts.
