A few former Cowboys have retired during the offseason. The biggest among them are ILB Floyd Larsen and FS Barron Carter.
Floyd Larsen joined Dallas in the 3rd round of the 2051 NFL Draft. He became a starter in 2053 following the retirement of Kevin Stake. In 2064, after he ended 2063 on the Injured Reserve, Dallas decided to let him walk in free agency. He signed with Tennessee, where he would spend his last two seasons. He made the Pro Bowl seven times as a Cowboy, before making it again once as a Tennessee Titan. As a Cowboy, he accumulated 305 tackles, 41 sacks, 114 interceptions, 78 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles, 11 safeties, and 13 touchdowns. He will be inducted into the Ring of Honor.
Barron Carter was drafted by Dallas in the 5th round of the 2052 draft. He became a starter a few years later, but struggled with injuries early in his career. He won the starting job in 2053, and kept it through 2062. In 2063, after revealing he was unsatisfied by what he considered to be a lack of trust from Dallas coaches, he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played through 2065. As a Cowboy, he accumulated 141 tackles, 121 interceptions, 53 passes defensed, 8 forced fumbles, 26 touchdowns, and 2 sacks. He was a Pro Bowler in eight of his ten years as a Cowboy, and he made one more Pro Bowl in his first year in Las Vegas. The Cowboys offered to add Carter to the Ring of Honor, and after much internal debate, he has accepted.
Also retiring are the following:
CB Howard Robinson was a near constant in the Pro Bowl after leaving Dallas to join the Green Bay Packers. He spent 2052-2057 with Dallas, and has been with Green Bay since. WR Bill Harris was with the Cowboys from 2050 to 2059, and spent the last six seasons on the 49ers. He made one Pro Bowl in San Francisco. OLB Jake Malone was a Cowboy from 2052 to 2059. In 2060, he was traded to Tampa Bay, where he would play through 2064. Last season, he was a backup for Washington, splitting time with another former Cowboy, Mike Burnsides. Malone made two Pro Bowls in Tampa Bay.
