Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League

Postby JPK » Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:55 pm

Dear readers,

After 53 seasons in my current franchise, and coinciding with a new laptop and the near end of my allotted 30 seasons, I have decided to shake things up a little. With the permission of grabursock55 (and thanks to his hard work), I will now use his mod to continue.

I will still play as the Anchorage Blizzard, and will be importing my current roster. Non-Blizzard teams will be awarded a roster at random according to their Team ID. With a few exceptions, like the New York Apocalypse getting the Cowboys' roster.

I am excited about the new graphics, and intend to learn TexMod to improve the experience. However, I don't intend to change my writing style, and I will be focusing mostly on rosters and performances. I will post more screenshots than usual in the first season (labeled Season 54 to keep continuity with my previous journal) and when facing new teams.

Of course, if anyone else wants to start a journal based on this mod (which, as we speak, is on the verge of being released), feel free to! Especially if you plan to focus more on the uniforms/graphics, and/or use the mod's roster.

If anyone plays the mod and wants to share their findings (journal or not), feel free to share!

One last rule I gave to myself: every 5 seasons I play, I am allowed to import a player under 80 OVR who has played for the Anchorage Blizzard in another universe's FIFL. Every 10 seasons, I am allowed to import such player from around the league. It would be imported through the draft, so I don't necessarily get said player. This rule is in case I get enamored with a player from the default roster, or whom I read about in another journal.

The FI Football League

The FI Football League, just like the NFL, is composed of 2 conferences of 4 divisions each. The Blizzard will be in the West division of the US conference, along with the Dallas Vipers, Portland Kingfish and Tyler Termites. The Winnipeg Snow Cats and San Juan Vortices are still in the league, but in the World conference.

There is still time for rivalries to develop, but some will start from day 1, like between the Blizzard and the two teams owned by RevanFan: the New York Apocalypse (East division, US conference) and the London Defenders (World conference).

Here is the entire league. Feel free to adopt one team (or more), whether you helped create it or not. It might help me focus the journal's attention to the teams my readers want to read about. Plus, there are still team rosters I've monitored and don't know what to do with.

US North
Great Lakes Beacons
Great Plains Bison
Pittsburgh Ironmen
Toledo Tribe

US South
Birmingham RailRiders
North Florida Archers
Philadelphia Quakers
Springfield Storm

US East
New Jersey Americans
New York Apocalypse
New York Gunmen
Tri State Wolves

US West
Anchorage Blizzard
Dallas Vipers
Portland Kingfish
Tyler Termites

World North
Mexico Aguilas
Toronto Bulls
Toronto Phantoms
Winnipeg Snowcats

World South
Australia Wallabies
Casablanca Roaches
New Zealand All Blacks
San Juan Vortices

World East
Barcelona Blaugrana
Deutsche Zerstorers
Paris Iron
Tokyo Owls

World West
Darlington Steam
England Union Jacks
London Defenders
Teeside Cougars

I am leaving you some time to adopt teams, and the next update with have some season previews of select teams (with full depth chart after I monitor said teams). Stay tuned!

I'm interested in every team, but of course I'm most interested in my two and yours.

Also, speaking of future rivalries... every team in the US East division is in the New York Metropolitan Area. That's gonna be really weird and really interesting. I'd definitely be interested in seeing any bitter rivalries across the league that may end up naturally developing, by way of really competitive games or "draft steals" or big trades or what have you.
