Re: Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League
First depth chart
Kurt Shade will be tried at free safety, and might also get reps at wide receiver. In a deep DB corps, SS DeRon Holland has a shot at earning time at linenacker.
QB: 7 Nate Clarke (99/30), 3 Juan Johnson (74/24), 5 Lester Larson (75/22), 10 Norman Blades (71/25)
Clarke has four 100-TD seasons in the past five years. Safe to say he will be a candidate for another MVP at the end of the season. Johnson and Larson should battle to be primary backup / development project.
HB: 21 Dwight Jones (92/29), 34 Leslie Sapp (81/31), 24 Scott Matthews (82/24)
Jones has been underutilized his whole career. Is it the year he dazzles all of us?
FB: 47 Austin Duncan (96/29), 37 Marshall Knight (83/26), 36 Gene Johnson (77/24), 31 Kwame Hodges (73/21)
TE: 89 Blake Blair (93/30), 80 Martin Gaffney (84/25), 82 Charles Jones (99/32), 86 Anthony Hansen (84/21), 84 Lamar Jansen (78/27)
With the main core (Duncan, Blair, Jones) getting older, the team has brought many potential replacements to insure the longterm health of kickoff blocking. But how many blockers is too many?
On offense, Jones has started regressing. Can Blair, a former 3000-yard receiver, return to glory? Or will Gaffney make a name for himself?
WR: 85 Brenden Bowens (92/24), 17 Daryl Rutledge (82/25), 14 Jamaal Smith (83/23), 88 Lester Walker (94/28), 12 Kurt Shade (80/23), 16 Derek Rose (77/32)
Rutledge and rookie Smith should battle for the starting spot opposite Bowens. Walker is the #1 returner, but he doesn't have the best hands. Shade is being tried on defense as well as offense and special teams, so we'll see.
LT: 78 Santana McAllister (84/23)
LG: 68 Chester Cumbie (92/26), 74 Bob Sapp (81/25)
C: 65 Antwaan Jones (95/30), 60 Cedric Walker (79/23), 64 Mark McFarland (75/29)
RG: 76 Cornelius Page (91/23), 72 Kyle Vincent (77/25)
RT: 79 Ricky Curry (82/25), 75 Germane Rowe (87/26)
The team traded C.J. Holt but drafted a monster in 6'8, 356 pounds Santana McAllister. At center, we expect rookie Walker to become heir to current starter Jones.
LE: 96 Keith Glass (96/29), 94 Randy Baker (80/28)
DT: 99 LeRoy Pickens (82/27), 97 Floyd Warner (86/32), 98 Cameron Farr (81/21), 95 Anthony Solomon (77/27)
RE: 90 Joe Burns (86/29), 74 Ricardo Swarner (79/21)
The starters should remain the same, but there is some new backups. We'll see how this plays out.
LOLB: 57 Craig Rudd (87/24), 55 Terrell Brown (75/25), 91 Clay Bennett (71/28), 54 Don Wilder (73/22)
MLB: 53 Tyrone Burnsides (75/25), 50 John Jackson (78/22), 56 Wayne Gill (67/25)
ROLB: 92 Joel Curtis (80/25), 35 DeRon Holland (83/24), 58 Alex Siegel (77/27)
LB/CB: 93 Ike Roberts (99/27)
Roberts is the clear leader of the group, and Rudd is almost guaranteed a starting spot. Jackson and Holland will battle current starters for playing time.
CB: 49 Raven Bender (87/24), 32 Marty Truman (77/23), 33 Reggie Nystrom (71/21), 9 Jerry Morris (74/33), 87 Kobe Parkman (77/29), 25 Devon Caudle (76/24)
FS: 29 Matt Westbrook (90/28), 43 Germane King (82/29), 12 Kurt Shade (80/23), 44 Horace Battle (76/24), 30 Cedric Carpenter (73/27)
SS: 26 Oliver Joyce (86/25), 23 Lonnie Robbins (82/28), 41 Cortez Lucas (83/24), 46 Da'Rel Sindle (74/21)
The starters are set, but there will be plenty of battles among backups and special-teamers.
K: 2 Joseph Diamond (92/27), 4 Rod Sparks (77/30)
P: 2 Joseph Diamond (96/27)
This shouldn't change from last year.
...any wishes or hunches?

Re: Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League
Season 127 is underway. I thought I would play more throughout the weekend, but ran into some issues.
I was nearing the 30th season of this file and had some problems with making the new file. The rosters were okay, I pinpointed it to a custom playbook problem. I tried several GAMEDATA versions and either the game would lock up when it was time to field a kickoff, or it would not recognize my substitutions for punt returns.
I started from a fresh GAMEDATA and imported freshly-made playbooks. The defensive one is nearly identical, but I eliminated a lot of offensive plays I never use. The game would still not give me the players I wanted on punt returns, so I was creative and changed the positions directly in the playbook. Sadly, I can't get the playbook merger to work, but the playbook editors did work so I made the best of it. Now I only need to insert the different packages. I played enough that I know this solution works for now, so I can put more energy into it.
I'm only two games deep but Daryl Rutledge is dazzling as a starting WR. Kurt Shade is slowly getting into his own, as he had some tackles and a fumble returned on 31 yards for a score.
Stay tuned!

Season 127 recap
No team ended up unbeaten this season. The Blizzard was knocked off by the Bison in overtime of week 15, and would then lose to the RailRiders to finish at 14-2. The Defenders were outlasted by the Archers in week 16 and finished atop the league at 15-1.
Anchorage was committed to the run, but with an inexperienced o-line, Dwight Jones had to grind out a lot of yardage, which led to a lower count of offensive plays and touchdowns. Jones was still in the running for MVP with his 2408 rushing yards and 31 TDs. Impressive numbers but he seemed to lose steam during the final stretch.
Defenders workhorse back Ryan Quinn won MVP with his 2577 yards and 28 TDs on the ground, as well as 47 catches for 377 yards and 4 more TDs.
Back in Anchorage, rookie TE Anthony Hansen had the most catches and TDs, while WR Daryl Rutledge had the most yardage. Brenden Bowens also was in the mix. Nate Clarke and Lester Larson combined for 78 TDs to just 8 interceptions.
Cornelius Page continued to improve, finishing just short of 100 pancakes. Ricky Curry and rookie Santana McAllister also vastly improved.
Ike Roberts earned DPOY with 82 tackles, 38 sacks, 3 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. Matt Westbrook and Raven Bender continued creating turnovers, combining for 11 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries. In his first season on defense, Kurt Shade had 41 tackles, 3 interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Lester Walker had 20 returns for TDs, as he brought back 12 kicks and 8 punts to the house.

Re: Anchorage Blizzard in the FI Football League
Playoffs recap
In another close game, the Blizzard came up on top against the RailRiders.
Byron Koch had a long TD, but Daryl Rutledge made an acrobatic catch to keep it close.
Mark Lee had another great game. Here, he knocked Anchorage out of field goal range.
Koch found the endzone again, but so did Rutledge, and Brenden Bowens also added a TD. Too many drives ended in field goals, but Joseph Diamond's 4 field goals helped the Blizzard make it to the next round.
The Apocalypse opened the game with a 68-yard gain by TE Omar Diller, and Josh Emerson ran it in to open the score.
Rutledge and Bowens both had huge games to help Nate Clarke rack up 590 yards and 7 TDs.
But New York held its own and found other ways to score. After a 59-yard pick-six earlier, Chad Willis did it again, this time on 96 yards.
Chris Love's long TD and Antonio Serra's safety were also crucial plays in this game that would be decided in overtime.
The Blizzard couldn't score, so New York had a chance to win it with a field goal. And they did when Jovon Rhodes booted it between the posts for his 4th FG of the game.
In the NFC, Ryan Quinn rushed for 130 yards and 2 TDs, and Leonardo Jones also caught a TD, to help the Defenders dispatch the Snowcats.
In the other divisional game, Ben Burrough threw for 338 yards and 3 TDs, and Price Bowers added two rushing TDs, and the Iron made it past the Vortices, 38-14.
Ryan Quinn rushed for another 111 yards and a TD, and Marcus James had a 4-yard TD catch. With 43 seconds to go, Woody Williams made it a 6-point game (19-13 for London) with a 55-yard TD, but it was too little too late.
The Super Bowl game was between the Apocalypse and the Defenders. London opened the score with a 15-yard TD pass from Mo Abraham to Leonardo Jones.
Both defenses reigned supreme, forcing 8 interceptions (4 by each team) and a few fumbles. New York was able to keep Quinn to just 50 yards from scrimmage and no TD. But London found other ways to score.
Safety William Martin had a huge 2nd half, as he returned interceptions on 72 and 64 yards for two TDs. He finished with 5 tackles and 3 interceptions to be named game MVP, as the Defenders held on to their 24-17 lead.
Congratulations, Defenders!
