New England come away with another big win, this time against Oakland. The Patriots offense opened the scoring after an 80 yard drive, capping it off with a 26 yard pass to receiver Brandin Cooks. They added to their lead only a minute later with a 44 yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski. The New England defense forced Oakland to punt on their next drive, but the offense failed to make anything happen. An excellent punt by Ryan Allen saw the Raiders take possession inside their own twenty, where a careless pass by Derek Carr was intercepted by Patriots safety Devin McCourty on the 24 yard line. McCourty managed to take the ball to Oakland's 7 yard line where he was forced out of bounds with 0:22 seconds to play. New England needed only one play to take it into the endzone as Rex Burkhead shot the gap between left tackle Nate Solder and guard Joe Thuney for the touchdown, ending the quarter 17-0.

A minute into the second period, New England took possession again, but had to settle for a second field goal. A crunching tackle by Patrick Chung forced the ball out of Marshawn Lynch's hands, with DT Cam Thomas recovering it on the Raiders' 45 yard line. With 1:48 left on the clock, Tom Brady connected with Danny Amendola on a 9 yard pass for New England's third touchdown of the day, making the score 24-0. Oakland managed to score just before halftime as Marshawn Lynch turned a screen pass into a 55 yard touchdown run down the left sideline. Following a successful extra point attempt, the teams entered the locker rooms with the score 24-7.

Four minutes into the third quarter, New England just about managed to stop an 80 yard drive on the goal line despite a tackle gone wrong which saw Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore going off the field with a dislocated shoulder. Oakland kicker Sebastian Janikowski scored the field goal, narrowing New England's lead to two touchdowns. It seemed the momentum had swung in the Raiders' favor as their defense forced a three-and-out, but another great punt by Allen pinned them inside their 20 yard line again. This time it was linebacker Dont'a Hightower's turn to make a play, forcing a fumble on the 30 yard line where safety Devin McCourty could recover it. A 14 yard pass to Rex Burkhead saw him score his second touchdown of the day, shutting down Oakland's burgeoning momentum.

The fourth quarter was largely uneventful as New England focused on their running game. Due to Dion Lewis' injury, running back Mike Gillislee saw snaps on offense for the first time since the preseason. He clearly wanted to make the most of the opportunity, rushing ten times for 81 yards to run the clock down. When asked about Gillislee's absence in the post game press conference, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had nothing but praise for the running back who, quote, "did everything they had asked of him", but he remained tight-lipped on Gillislee's role going forward.

A late interception in the endzone by Raiders cornerback David Amerson gave Oakland possession with less than a minute on the clock, but the New England defense brought the pressure, preventing them from a first down. Stranded on their 4 yard line on fourth down, Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio made the call to attempt a fourth yard conversion but failed, giving New England the ball. Rex Burkhead ran it into the endzone for his third touchdown, making the score 41-10 with 0:26 left of the game.

The Patriot of the Week award goes to running back Rex Burkhead who rushed 13 times for 48 yards and two TDs and made two catches for 18 yards and a TD. Honorable mentions go to linebacker Dont'a Hightower who made five tackles including one for a loss and forcing a fumble and to Stephon Gilmore for three tackles including two for a loss, three deflections and only one allowed catch on the day.

New England record their third big win in a row as they beat division rivals Miami at Gillette Stadium. The stunning offensive display of the afternoon was a surprise considering the injuries plaguing the Patriots, with TE Rob Gronkowski, RB Dion Lewis and WR Chris Hogan out to start the game. The game opened in Miami's favor as running back Damien Williams picked up 40 yards on a running play, setting Ryan Tannehill up for a touchdown pass to tight end Julius Thomas. New England responded in kind with a 76 yard drive, ending in a 4 yard run by James White for a touchdown seconds into the second quarter. Following a 14 play drive for 83 yards and a touchdown pass to tight end Dwayne Allen, the Patriots took the lead to see out the first half at 14-7.

New England's dominance continued in the third quarter. The decision not to bring it out of the endzone on kickoff saw the Patriots offense take the field at the 25 yard line. Mike Gillislee, who had seen a handful of snaps in the first half, broke through the Dolphins secondary on the very first play of the quarter, bringing it all the way to the endzone for a touchdown. An interception by Eric Rowe saw the Patriots get the ball back on Miami's 31 yard line. The acquisition of free agent Calvin Pryor appeared to have been a wise decision as safety Devin McCourty had to come off the field with a torn pectoral. The injury does not appear to require surgery and he is expected to be available for the postseason.

Following a 3 yard run, quarterback Tom Brady connected with wide receiver Brandin Cooks on a 28 yard pass for New England's fourth TD of the day. The Patriots' fifth touchdown came on a short pass to James White which he took down the sideline for a 30 yard touchdown, making the score 35-7 at the end of the third period. The fourth quarter saw Tom Brady combine with Brandin Cooks for a second touchdown pass following a 61 yard drive. Miami managed to respond with seven quick plays for 75 yards and a touchdown pass to Kenny Stills, but following an interception by Dont'a Hightower on the Dolphins' next possession, Tom Brady hit James White for the latter's third TD of the game. Stephen Gostkowski missed the extra point, leaving the final score at 48-14.

The Patriot of the Week award goes to running back James White, who saw most of his snaps as a receiver given the injuries to the receiver corps. White had four catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns with 42 yards after the catch. He also rushed four times for 12 yards and a touchdown. Honorable mentions go to Tom Brady who completed 17 of 27 passes for 252 yards and five TDs, and Stephon Gilmore who had three tackles and four deflections on the day while allowing only two catches.

New England's best defensive display of the season saw them allow only a single touchdown against division rivals Buffalo. The first quarter saw no points and was characterised by several changes of possession and multiple sacks to quarterback Tom Brady. Kicker Stephen Gostkowski opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 22 yard field goal after a long drive that stalled on the goal line after wide receiver Brandin Cooks went out with a bruised shoulder. Buffalo responded in kind as running back LeSean McCoy brought the ball into the endzone on a 13 yard run after a drive that saw New England give up a first down after cornerback Eric Rowe was called for roughing the kicker. The Patriots managed to score again with 0:12 on the clock when James White caught it in the endzone, going into halftime with the score 10-7.

The third quarter was similar to the first, although the Patriots had begun to assert their dominance over the game on both sides of the ball. Despite a successful deep ball to receiver Philip Dorsett, New England failed to make much progress through the air and had to rely on their running game. A muffed punt by Buffalo safety Micah Hyde saw New England take possession on the Bills' 29 yard line early in the fourth quarter. Following a short drive with multiple successful runs by Mike Gillislee, running back Rex Burkhead took it into the endzone for a touchdown. Brandin Cooks' return provided the offense with the explosiveness they had been lacking since his second quarter injury. Although he did not score a TD on the day, he was integral to a 71 yard drive that saw Tom Brady and Danny Amendola connect in the endzone on a 17 yard pass. The Patriots ended the day with a 48 yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski, who had missed a long range effort earlier in the game.

The Patriot of the Week award goes to linebacker Elandon Roberts, who shut Buffalo down on a number of occasions, accumulating five tackles and two sacks. Honorable mentions go to hard-hitting safety Patrick Chung who held Buffalo tight end Charles Clay to 23 yards on five receptions, wide receiver Brandin Cooks who caught six passes for 95 yards, and to running back James White who caught six balls for 59 yards and a TD in addition to 17 rushing yards on two attempts.

2017 WEEK 13 - TEAM STANDINGS
The past five weeks have seen several changes to the standings and the playoff contenders are starting to emerge. Perhaps the most important thing to note is that Pittsburgh's undefeated streak was ended coming off their bye week, with two losses in a row. This means their upcoming game against New England will be crucial if they want to have a shot at first seed in the playoffs. Atlanta, on the other hand, look unbeatable, having played their twelfth game without a loss. At this point, no one would be surprised to see Dan Quinn and Matt Ryan in the Super Bowl for a second year in a row. The most exciting division for neutrals is undoubtedly the NFC West; the Cardinals, the Rams, and the Niners are in a three-way tie at 6-6, with Seattle lagging behind after only winning one of their last five games. Will Arizona QB Carson Palmer's experience see his team through to the postseason?

A close game in Miami saw New England record their second loss of the season. The Dolphins opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 53 yard run that would set the tone for the Patriots' run defense for the rest of the game. New England came back halfway through the second quarter after a great kick return by running back Dion Lewis gave them excellent field position. Lewis, who played his first game since sustaining a strained pectoral against Denver in week 10, caught a 5 yard pass in the endzone to level the score.

A massive defensive lapse just over a minute later saw the Patriots allow another long touchdown as Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill hit WR DeVante Parker on a deep ball, making the score 13-7 after kicker Cody Parkey missed the extra point attempt. Miami managed to put up another three points before halftime as Parkey made a field goal 44 yards out, ending the second period with the score 16-7.

Following another excellent kick return by Lewis, the Patriots marched down to the 2 yard line where Brady connected with tight end Dwayne Allen to make the score 16-14. It would not last, however, as the blocking broke down on a punt return, resulting in a rare fumble by wide receiver Danny Amendola. Dolphins LB Chase Allen picked up the loose ball and brought in for a TD to end the third quarter 22-14. With 3:41 left on the clock, the Dolphins scored a field goal, but on the very next drive Tom Brady combined with wide receiver Philip Dorsett for a 62 yard touchdown pass. The two point conversion failed as Dion Lewis was tackled on the 1 yard line.

After successfully stopping the Dolphins' offense, New England drove the ball into Miami's half, but failed on a fourth down conversion, causing a turnover on downs. Using all of their timeouts to stop Miami's offense, New England got the ball back on their 25 yard line as Miami punter Matt Haack failed to pin them inside their five. With less than a minute left to play, Brady got the ball back, but lost it again on a strip sack that ended the slim comeback hope New England had left, ending the game with the score 25-20 to Miami.

The Patriot of the Week award goes to RB Dion Lewis who rushed nine times for 45 yards, caught four passes for 21 yards and a TD and returned four kicks for 116 yards. A honorable mention goes to WR Brandin Cooks who had five catches for 133 yards.

I'm guessing the Steelers lost against the Colts and the Lions. Those were pretty good teams (Surprisingly) when I faced them. Also, Matt Ryan managed to channel his MVP self through that one.

Their losses came to the Colts and the Titans, actually. My last game (Dolphins) was such a bullshit game, though. I actually played it twice, because the first time around I beat them 41-3. I ended up taking the Def Awareness down another 15 points (to 51) but then I got the whole thing with giving up massive touchdown plays back, so I'll try taking it up again, maybe to 56. But this loss makes the next game (Steelers) very, very interesting.

For some reason, the deep ball is very effective when used by the CPU. It is annoying when they do that Play Action and throw a streak. The safeties take way too long to react.
