DEAD JOURNAL
Please see UCFL* Redux for a reboot of this league
This will be my first attempt at creating a journal for a league. The United Continental Football League (UCFL) is a completely fictional league made up of teams from the Modern era of the NFL (Buffalo Bills, MInnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens), classic NFL Teams (58 Baltimore Colts, 66 Green Bay Packers, 67 Oakland Raiders, 1973 Cincinatti Bengals, 1987 New Orleans Saints), USFL (Boston Breakers, Houston Gamblers, Denver Gold, Pittsburgh Maulers, New Jersey Generals, Washington Federals, Chicago Blitz, Arizona Wranglers, Tampa Bay Bandits), WFL (Jacksonville Sharks, So. Cal Sun, Philadelphia Bell, Detroit Wheels, Charlotte Hornets, Portland Storm), WLAF (Orlando Thunder, Ohio Glory, San Antonio Riders, Sacramento Surge, Birmingham Fire), and the XFL (NY/NJ Hitmen, Memphis Maniax, Los Angeles Xtreme, Las Vegas Outlaws).
The UCFL is divided into 2 Conferences (Continental, and Union) with 4 divisions each (Metro, Dixie, Pacific, Mid-Atlantic; Capital, Heartland, Sierra, Confederate
For simplicity sake the Continental Conference is the same as the NFL's AFC, with the Metro division =AFC East, Dixie=AFC South, Pacific=AFC West, and Mid-Atlantic=AFC North. The same is true for the Union which will be the NFC for Madden purposes, with Capital=NFC East, Heartland=NFC North, Sierra=NFC West, and Confederate=NFC South
The UCFL is a 32 team league. The teams (and the NFL Teams they replace are as follows):
Continental Metro Divison
2016 Buffalo Bills (replaces Default Bills)
Orlando Thunder (replaces Miami Dophins)
Boston Breakers (replaces NE Patriots)
NY/NJ Hitmen (replaces the NY Jets)

Re: United Continental Football League
Very interesting! Even though I'm a little sad that the Montréal Machine (WLAF) didn't make the cut, but I should get over it. I'll be following!
Are the players fictional or are you starting with real ones?

Re: United Continental Football League
At first all the rosters will be the actual teams. Of course that will change as the league progressess. I wanted to add some other teams like the Machine but since this is my very first attempt i wanted to keep a league structure that is familiar with everyone..Hence most of the teams have actual NFL counterparts. Others just made sense for substitution (ie Surge for the 49ers, Riders for Cowboys, and Maniax for Titans).
I will be tracking stats for Passing (Not just QBs, but I have see HBs attempt passes), Rushing, Receiving, Kicking (FGs and PATs), Punting, Offense (Pancakes and Sacks Allowed) and Total Defense. Also I will post weekly standings for each division.
Season 1 will be based off the 2007 NFL season and be 17 weeks with a 4 week Pre-season (No HOF game).

I'm not exactly thrilled to see my Cowboys kicked out of the league, but I'll still be reading. This is an interesting concept.

Well with the history of the other leagued (XFL lasted only one year, USFL lasted 3, WFL lasted 2) it might be that teams might move and change their names...so anything might be possible..

Re: United Continental Football League
Before the UCFL even kicks off we have had our first loss. The Jacksonville Sharks have suspended all operations. However a group of investors who were on the list of owners who had ready teams were contacted. The new team, Florida Blazers will be taking the Sharks place in the Continental Dixie division. As this team was already set and was on the short list of teams, there will be no dispersal draft for the Jacksonville Sharks' roster.
Some how the team I had for the Jacksonville Sharks kept locking up when I ran Madden. Therefore I had to replace them.

Re: United Continental Football League
Date Line - New York July, 6 20xx. It has been reported today in the NY Times-Tribune that former business tycoon, now President Ron Bugle has been forced to sell the New Jersey Generals of the UCFL, stating a conflict of interests. The new owner will keep the team in place but has done away with the Orange and gold color scheme and re-named the team the New York-New Jersey Knights. This team will have a silver, black, white and gold color scheme and still play in East Rutherford New Jersey at the MetLife stadium.
Again for some reason when I was testing the Generals out madden kept freezing on me. Therefore I was forced to change teams once again.
