Historic Cowboys Tournament - Record-Based

Well, I started doing this a while back and fell off for a while. I'm going to try my hand at it again. If I can complete the tournament, I'll start it again with different seeding. For now, I'll do it using record-based seeding, as that seeding is currently complete, regardless of where 2016 Dallas finishes.

The first matchup of the record-based Historic Cowboys Tournament is 2008 at 2006. Both teams finished 9-7 and both were quarterbacked by Tony Romo, but 2006 made the playoffs, while 2008 did not. Many may remember the 2006 season for its end--the fumbled hold by Romo in Seattle--but the switch halfway through the year to Romo as the quarterback would be a major boost to Dallas for years to come.

The winner moves on to face #1 seed 1977, who received a bye.

I'm going to be modifying my sliders while I do this. For instance, after the first game, ALL sliders are going down slightly, except for CPU FG accuracy, which is going up. Also, interceptions for User and CPU are going WAY down.

That first game was exciting though. 2006 had a chance at a game-winning drive, threw and interception, got an interception right back, and then missed a game-winning 57-yard FG attempt. The very next play, 2008 was in the lead.

This is a neat idea. There are so many great players represented with these teams. I'll root for the early 70's squads pre-Staubach. Duane Thomas, Lance No Pants Rentzel, Bullet Bob and all of those guys ... Chuck Howley!

What do you mean pre-Staubach? All of those guys played with Staubach. He became the starter in 1971. Well, maybe not Rentzel. Can't really remember.

I guess I was thinking the Super Bowl V era with Craig Morton. Morton was a terrible quarterback compared to Staubach, I was thinking of their first Super Bowl appearance how they won up til that game with Morton at the helm.

Oooh, gonna get me some popcorn. That first game was more fun than all the wildcard matches this weekend!

I shall refrain from picking games for now, since I'm using your teams in my own tournament and wouldn't want to seem biased...

I like the bracket. I'll have to steal that idea when I have less teams.
