Following a Broncos field goal, Erroll Tucker takes the kick return 99 yards to score six for Pittsburgh.



Steelers inside linebacker David Little sacks Elway recording one of his game leading 12 tackles in the western Pennsylvania rain.



5th year pro Rich Karlis kicks his second field goal of the opening quarter with his newly acquired Reeboks.



Rulon Jones tackles the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage forcing the Steelers to a 3 and out.



The home team scores on their next possession with Earnest Jackson carrying the Wilson football into the goal from the fullback position.



The Denver Broncos lose Sammy Winder for the remainder of the season. The half back will appear in a career tying low, 8 games, in NFL 86 during his 5 year career in Denver.



"The Albino Rhino" Karl Mecklenburg recorded 9 tackles, including 3 for a loss, at Heinz Field.



Rookie Bubby Brister completed 8 of only 10 passes in the action and threw a scoring pitch.



Linebacker David Little from Miami, Florida earned collegiate All-American status in his senior season at the University of Florida. A four year starter for the Gators, Little holds the UF record for tackles in a career with 475.



Tight end Bobby Micho catches a short pass late in the 3rd in the endzone to score the Broncos only touchdown.



The Denver offense is anchored by left guard Keith Bishop. The seventh year pro is looking for his first Pro Bowl honor in NFL 86.



Cornerback Dwayne Woodruff intercepts Elway in the 4th quarter.



Linebacker Dennis Winston invades the Broncos backfield and effectively ends the game with a tackle for a loss earning Pittsburgh's second victory of NFL 86 in week 9.

Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar is inactive for week 9 allowing Mike Pagel his second start for the Cleveland franchise. A fourth round pick by the Colts in 1984 from Arizona State, Pagel played in 51 games, starting 47, before signing a free agent contract with the Browns.



Cleveland closes their opening possession with a 3 point kick off the right foot of Matt Bahr.



Speedy Gary Anderson found rushing against the Browns to be tough sledding as he only amounted 33 yards on 11 carries at Qualcomm Stadium.



Dan Fouts gets knocked out for the final series of the 1st quarter ushering in Mark Hermann to finish the drive. Cleveland corner Frank Minnifield intercepts Hermann's only pass.



Half back Herman Fontentot lays into strong safety Jeffrey Dale knocking the Charger out of the game.



Fouts returns and begins making a case for the NFL 86 player of the year award completing 20 of 25 and 2 scores during the late game at Qualcomm Stadium.



Split end Trumaine Johnson comes down with the six for San Diego.



Flanker Charlie Joiner catches the clutch catch over Minnifield and Ray Ellis to put the Chargers in position to score.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Duane Bickett begins the contest by scooping the loose ball off of the Gillette Stadium artificial turf and securing possession for the visiting team.



Albert Bentley, from The U, beats Patriots strong side linebacker Andre Tippett to the first six of the opening period.



The home team responds with six when Tony Eason puts the ball in the reliable hands of fullback Mosi Tatupu on 2nd down.



Randy McMillan returns to the Colts starting lineup following injury in week 9 as the fullback in Coach Dowhower's scheme.



Patriots split end Irving Fryar out plays Colts corner Dextor Clinkscale for the ball and takes it for six.



The New England Patriots and the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts spent 17 seasons in the National Football League as division rivals. As the first half comes to a close with a 21 all tie, the notorious rivalry between these two clubs prove the more things change the more they stay the same. [all we need's a miracle to take us all away from the pain]



New England ends their opening possession of the second half with another turnover as strong safety Nesby Glasgow intercepts Eason's pass.



Quarterback Gary Hogeboom was a 5th round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 1980. After spending 6 seasons in the shadow of Danny White, Hogeboom wanted out of Dallas and was granted with a trade to the Colts. Upon arrival at camp he was met with the opposition of rookie Jack Trudeau and was beat out of the starting assignment again. Following injury to Trudeau in the first half, Hogeboom gets unleashed in the Colts West Coast and gets gobbled up with 2 sacks and 2 picks.



Inside linebacker Cliff Odom gets a pick early in the 4th quarter for the Colts. The veteran from the University of Texas at Arlington has been with the club since 1980, and today he lead the D in tackles and even forced a fumble.



Tight end Greg Hawthorne scores the go ahead touchdown for the home team blasting Eugene Daniel for an 11 yard gain.



Free safety Fred Marion gets the pick off of the deflection to stifle the Indianapolis comeback.



Quarterback Tony Eason threw 4 interceptions during the contest but kept the Patriots efficient in the final minutes.



The New England Patriots won three playoff games on the road last season to earn a trip to Super Bowl 20 where they were dismantled by the Bears. New England started NFL 86 0-6 before staring down their opponent for the win for the second consecutive week. End Brent Williams and linebacker Ed Reynolds have been key figures in the recent resurgence.



Cornerback Rod McSwain makes the play of the game stopping the Colts last effort on 4th down.

On the next Oakland possession Jim Plunkett gets sent to the sideline following an awkward takedown on 3rd down. Rusty Hilger from Oklahoma State is in his second season in Raider Black and sees his first action of NFL 86 following Plunkett's departure. Hilger debuted with a scoring strike for six on his 2nd pass of the game.



The Oakland Raiders racked up a 21 point lead on their former division rivals before Plunkett was officially ruled out for a return. Week 9 of NFL 86 has been full of former division matchups after the restructure of the league. The Raiders and the Seahawks have played in 18 AFC West matchups prior to today's non-conference action.



Left end Howie Long pursues rookie fullback John L. Williams for a tackle behind the line of scrimmage to further stifle the Seattle O. 4 of Howie's 6 tackles in the evening were recorded while dragging running backs down for a loss.



Seattle gets on the scoreboard when Coach Knox opts to put the ball in the air on 4th down. Split end Paul Skanski scurries away from Oakland's Fulton Walker for the six.



Bruce Scholtz earned the starting assignment at linebacker following an injury to Michael Jackson. [he!hee!] Six foot six Scholtz is in his 5th year with the football club after being drafted out of the University of Texas.



The Oakland Raiders light up the score board early in the second half when Hilger pitches a short pass to flanker Jessie Hester who took it for a 92 yard scoring play.



Seattle slinger Dave Krieg threw all 3 scores for the home team in a losing effort. Krieg's completion numbers were a season high, going 21 of 26.



Dokie Williams gets his hands on the football for a score. Darryl Eugene Williams was a 5th round selection by the Raiders in the 1983 draft and has stepped up to be the starting split end in Tom Flores' offense in NFL 86.



Tight end Gordon Hudson from Brigham Young University comes off the snap and hooks in the endzone to find Krieg's last touchdown offering of the night.



Cornerback Mike Haynes makes the play to end the competitive phase of this Monday Night Football contest.



Number 32 rolled through Seattle in week 9 and earned the Snickers Hungriest Player of the Game award.

thanks! i did a lot of tweaking on baghdad's original roster. there are a lot of random players throughout with the wrong skin tone i corrected. also, most of the rookies are assigned the wrong jersey number. after sifting through and correcting that stuff, i used nza's editor and simply reassigned the uniforms and logo id's using the default throwbacks in the game. let me find my notes and ill post all of those id numbers. the Cardinals uniform id's were "hidden", so to speak, so i had to search for those in the database

this project is still very much active, and i just finished up week 15 of play. i will make this journal a priority soon to be updated
