Cornerbacks VS Running Backs


Running Backs QB Denard Robinson starts the game off on the wrong foot by throwing an interception to Darelle Revis. Will they be able to pass at all with the likes of Revis, Josh Norman, and Vontae Davis on the defense?


Cornerbacks QB Nick Marshall fires a bomb that goes over the head of S Jerick McKinnon, hitting WR Tony Lippett for a big TD. Lippett was a WR back at Michigan State and that skill comes in handy here. Also - the cornerbacks actually hit the extra point, with Sean Smith kicking! CBs are up 7-0.


Nick Marshall fires in a pass that hits WR Aqib Talib for a first down.


It's not all bad so far for the HBs - Lamar Miller, now playing CB, made an interception. And while covering Richard Sherman! That's pretty cool.


Eddie Lacy, playing DE, smashes into QB Marshall and puts him on the ground. The HBs aren't doing that great, though...


Ironically, the Running Backs couldn't figure out how to run the ball, so they lost the game handily. The Cornerbacks might have what it takes to go all the way...

I was fully expecting the Running Backs to win because their offensive line was made up of fullbacks like Jalston Fowler, John Kuhn, James Develin, and Anthony Sherman. Instead, Adrian Peterson ran for 3.1 ypc and Denard Robinson showed up BJ Daniels' terrible performance [in the prior game] and threw 7 interceptions. Both teams had poor offenses, but the Cornerbacks had enough passing plays to manage 2 TDs, sealing the game.
The CBs will play the winner of the next game.

Unfortunately, the guy is not much of a running back because (a) he doesn't have the build for the pounding, and (b) he has trouble holding on to the ball. As far as a WR, he would probably do OK, if he could catch. It's all too bad because he is a good guy and when he gets into space he can be dangerous, but just not as dangerous as he was in college because of the speed difference in the NFL.

Safeties VS Offensive Linemen

37 year old Charles Woodson runs the football as a FB. Who ever thought he'd be moving the chains on offense?


Glover Quin leaps and makes an incredible catch and somehow falls down in bounds! First down and the Safeties are ready to score.


Eric Berry, the Safeties' HB, scores a TD. The score is now 6-0.


The offensive lineman move the football down the field and finish a drive with a TD pass thrown from Lane Johnson and caught by Chris Chester for a TD. It's 6-6 now.


Thanks to some superb blocking from his fellow safeties, Eric Berry breaks off a huge run and scores! It ends up being a 59 yard run and the Safeties lead 12-6.


Late in the game, OLs HB Alejandro Villaneuva powers his way into the endzone for a TD. They miss the extra point and we have a 12-12 game with a small amount of time left.


Are you kidding me? OLs Kicker Menelik Watson actually hits a field goal and the game is over! What a comeback by the offensive linemen!


The offensive linemen pulled the upset (or at least it was in my mind) and move on to face a very similar team - the cornerbacks. And yes, I'm playing in one of Madden's weird stadiums. I never get to play in them, so I decided to try them out in these exhibition games.

The safeties were surprisingly poor in coverage, allowing the offensive lineman to mount a comeback. Lane Johnson was a surprisingly competent QB and he led his fellow linemen to victory. As you might notice in the stat box above, I changed the sliders to make the game a little more exciting, and it worked. I'll stick with these sliders for the next game.

Darelle Revis has an easy time making this interception. Chris Chester is pretty easy to cover.


TE Terron Armstead makes a catch and plows his way into the endzone. It's a 6-6 game in the 4th quarter.


Late in the game, the Cornerbacks set up some blocks and pave the way for Patrick Peterson to rush his way to a TD.


The Cornerbacks move on, and now all offensive positions have been eliminated. The final game is at hand!

Josh Norman comes down with an interception. Jamie Collins threw a pass into triple coverage, so he had this coming.


This game was already getting out of hand, but Anthony Barr finishes the cornerbacks off.

Not much of note happened, other than Anthony Barr doing an Adrian Peterson impression. Both the LBs and CBs had trouble passing the ball, and Barr was clearly above Patrick Peterson in the running game.

Congratulations to the Linebackers! They don't really win anything, but I suppose this makes them the best position in the league.
