From The Florida Times-Union:
Super Bowl Celebration Short-Lived in J'ville
JACKSONVILLE -- Not long after the confetti had been swept up from the championship parade down Bay Street the rumblings started. Young players who had just secured their first championship quickly turn their thoughts towards their value and the perception that they are being under paid. And when you are a Super Bowl Champion and get named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year, it is hard not to feel underpaid when you are still under a rookie contract that is an incredible bargain for the Jaguars. Did DeForest Buckner handle the situation properly by threatening to holdout unless the team awarded him a new contract? And did Buckner have a role in getting fellow draft class members CB Artie Burns and FS Keanu Neal to join his cause and also take the position that they would not play without new contracts? It is all debatable but in hindsight, perhaps those players now wish they would have taken a different approach. They are now gone, traded by Jaguars GM David Caldwell who parted ways with all three players stating that if they did not want to be in Jacksonville, the Jaguars did not want them. In a three team deal, Jax sent Buckner and a 3rd round pick to San Francisco for a 2nd and 5th, the Jags then took their 1st and the 5th from SF and sent those picks to the Giants for OLB Myles Jack and 4th rounder. Burns was then dealt to Pittsburgh for a 3rd round pick. Finally, in another three-team-deal, Neal was traded to Atlanta for a 2nd round pick, with the Falcons 2nd and FS Sergio Brown sent to San Diego for CB Jalen Ramsey. "We really did not want to deal those players, but if they are going to band together and take the stance that they would not play without new contracts, to us that shows that they really didn't want to be part of this team," said Caldwell. With Buckner gone, last year's team leader in sacks, Caldwell has indicated that LB Dante Fowler, Jr. will move to the LE position to be the team's primary pass rusher while Myles Jack will take Fowler's place in the linebacking corps. CB Jalen Ramsey should be a day one starter at the CB1 spot while new free agent acquisition Tashaun Gipson will take over the free safety position vacated by Neal. The Jaguars also announced the signing of free agent LT Kelvin Beachum. After a surprising amount of player movement during the last few months, Caldwell and the Jaguars will now turn their focus towards the 2018 NFL Draft.

Jags Go Heavy on Offense in 2018 NFL Draft
JACKSONVILLE -- When Jaguars GM David Caldwell opted not to resign a number of veterans on offense, including QB Josh Freeman, RG Tyler Shatley, FB Will Ta'ufo'ou, C Luke Bowanko and LT Sean Hickey, and also with the retirement of TE Marcedes Lewis, it was clear depth on the offensive line and at the tight end position would be a priority entering the 2018 NFL Draft. Over the weekend, Caldwell used six of his eight picks on the offensive side of the ball. After sending the team's first round pick to NY in the Myles Jack deal, the Jaguars had to wait until the top of the 2nd round before making their first selection. With that pick the Jaguars selected TE John Mayes from the University of Oregon. Mayes was an All-American in his senior season leading all Pac 12 tight ends in receptions and touchdowns. With Marcedes Lewis retired, Mayes will back-up Julius Thomas and see a significant amount of playing time in the Jaguars two-TE sets. "We like John's athleticism and his catching ability, playing at Oregon he had a lot of opportunities to stretch the field and make big plays over the middle," said coach Gus Bradley. Later in the 2nd round the Jaguars selected RT Ike McAllister out of LSU. "Ike is a mauler and has a mean streak, that is something we like in our tackles," stated Caldwell. In a surprise move, Jacksonville selected two quarterbacks during the draft, QB Riley Ward from North Alabama at the end of the third round and QB B.J. Greer from Indiana in the 7th round. "Last year we saw the importance of the back-up QB position when Blake when down in some big games, Riley, B.J. and Chad [Henne] will all compete for that role; and we also felt it was important to get young again at that position," claimed Caldwell. At the top of the 4th round the Jaguars selected MLB Willie Vonbank from Michigan State. "Again, we want to get young at positions like MLB and Willie has the type of speed and quickness we covet in a linebacker," said Coach Bradley. Below is a rundown of all eight members of the Jaguars 2018 draft class:

Jaguars Announce a Return to London
JACKSONVILLE -- After taking a few years hiatus from playing one home game each year at London's Wembley Stadium, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that they have signed a four year agreement to again play one home game per year in London. The agreement covers the 2018 through 2021 seasons. This season's game will be played on October 28, 2018 versus the Denver Broncos. "We are very excited to return to London," stated Jaguars owner Shad Khan. "We have grown a fan base in the UK and the players and coaches are looking forward to the atmosphere of playing in Wembley, it is a unique experience," said Khan. As is traditionally the case, the team will play in London prior to its bye week. "I have always enjoyed playing there, the stadium is always packed, they make it feel like a playoff game," claimed QB Blake Bortles. The Jaguars are faced with a difficult schedule in 2018. Six of the first eight games are on the road and one of those home games will be the London game. "It will be tough to play only one game at Everbank in the first two months of the season, but it does mean we will get six of our last eight at home to end the season," said LB Telvin Smith. The defending Super Bowl Champs will first open the pre-season in Philadelphia vs. the Eagles on August 16th.
London's Wembley Stadium will again be the site of one Jaguars home game for each of the next four seasons:

Jaguars 2018 Preseason Report: Injury Woes and Rookie QBs
JACKSONVILLE -- Preseason injuries are a concern for every NFL team. And for the Jaguars, the 2018 preseason was no different. After multiple injuries along the offensive and defensive lines, Jacksonville will have to shuffle the starting line-up for both units heading into the regular season. Perhaps the most difficult adjustment will be along the offensive line which must play at least four games without starting center Alex Mack. The veteran Mack pulled his hamstring during the team's second preseason game. "It's not serious, but the doctors want me to rest it at least 4-6 weeks," said Mack. Coach Gus Bradley said the team would move LG Brandon Linder to center and slot OT Luke Joeckel in at left guard. Linder has played a number of snaps in the league at center, however, this will be Joeckel's first time playing guard. "I'm up for this challenge, I'm ready for it," said Joeckel, who had lost his starting LT job to recent free agent signee Kelvin Beachum. In addition to Mack, the offensive line also lost rookie RT Ike McAllister for six weeks with a broken hand. On the defensive line, starting DT Sen'Derrick Marks went down during the first preseason game with a broken ankle and will be out at least eight weeks. The Jaguars plan to rotate Tyson Alualu and 2nd year player Palmer Patterson in Marks' spot. The Jaguars completed the preseason with a pedestrian 1-3 record, losing to the Eagles, Bengals and Dolphins, while posting their only win against Atlanta. "I'm not concerned with a preseason record, especially when we gave our rookie QBs lots of playing time," stated Bradley. During the preseason the rookie QBs did take a majority of the team's snaps. Rookie B.J. Greer impressed the coaching staff with a 64% completion percentage and a 80.9 QB rating. The team's other rookie QB, Riley Ward, was not far behind with a 62% completion percentage but did toss two interceptions while attempting 32 passes. "I think we saw enough from both rookie QBs to keep them on the roster," stated GM David Caldwell. The Jaguars will now focus on the regular season opener which will kick-off this Sunday in Indianapolis.

Jags One Game Behind Indy Nearing Midway Mark
JACKSONVILLE -- After closing out perhaps the most difficult schedule run in franchise history, a run that saw the team play 6 of 7 games on the road, the Jaguars stand at 4-3 and one game behind the AFC South leading Colts. In what may be looked back on as the most pivotal game of the season, the Jaguars went to Houston this Sunday and posted a 20-17 win over the then 4-2 Texans. A loss in that game would have put Jacksonville at 3-4 looking up in the division at both the Texans and Colts. "A loss there and we would have been two games behind Indy and one behind Houston with head-to-head losses to both, it was a huge win," stated coach Gus Bradley. The win did come with one negative as HB Chris Ivory left the game with a strained shoulder and is now doubtful for week 8. The injury was a tough blow for Ivory as the Houston game was the first time in which Ivory was named the starter over TJ Yeldon who had been struggling. "I'll be back soon, it's just a bad bruise," claimed Ivory. After the win in Houston the team boarded their charter flight to London. The team will spend the week in London preparing for their game against the 3-3 Denver Broncos and their #1 rated defense. "Denver will be a big challenge for us," said QB Blake Bortles, "that is the defense that you have to measure yourself against in this league, we are looking forward to it." After the London game, the Jaguars will enjoy a bye week and a second half schedule that will see the team play six of the eight remaining games at Everbank Field. Kick-off this Sunday at Wembley Stadium will be at 2:30 p.m. London time, 9:30 a.m. EDT.

LONDON -- After a two year hiatus, the Jacksonville Jaguars returned to play a home game at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday. They now likely wish they did not have to travel eight hours by plane to suffer the heartbreaking, last second, 35-33 loss hung on them by the Denver Broncos in rainy London. A defeat that sets the Jaguars at 4-4 halfway through the 2018 season. It will be an even longer plane ride home. It was billed by Jaguars QB Blake Bortles as a test of the team's offense against the NFL's best defense. And, while Bortles did throw for 357 yards and four touchdowns, he also threw three picks and was sacked five times. But, in the end, it was the Jaguars defense that fell flat and allowed Denver to march down the field with only a minute to play in the fourth quarter to set up the game winning 40 yard field goal. On the final drive, the Broncos converted a back-breaking 4th and 12 with under :30 seconds to play. WR Emmanuel Sanders was the hero on the critical 4th down play, hauling in a Paxton Lynch pass beyond the first down marker and in between two Jaguars defenders. That play set up kicker Brandon McManus for the game winning 40 yarder as time expired. "I just concentrated on making a good strike and solid contact," said McManus. A visibly dejected Bortles said, "It is going to be an extremely long ride home." With the bye week coming up the Jaguars will have an extra week to mull over the loss and look forward to the second half of the season where they now find themselves in third place in the AFC South. The Jaguars will start the second half of the season at home in two weeks against the 3-4 Titans.
Typical London weather welcomed the Jaguars and the Broncos
Wembley Stadium was decked out for another NFL International Series contest
Jags star WR Allen Hurns goes down with a shoulder injury on the game's 2nd play
LB Myles Jack closes in on Denver QB Paxon Lynch

WR Pete Freeman scores the Jaguars first TD
TE Julius Thomas had a monster game against his old team posting 2 TDs and 105 yards receiving
Sanders hauls in another big pass over the middle as the 2nd half gets underway
Two costly picks put Jax in a deep hole during the 2nd half
WR Marqise Lee caps a furious Jags comeback and puts Jax in the lead late in the 4th
Jags fans who crossed the pond celebrate the comeback
With less than :30 Sanders converts a 4th and 12 to keep the Broncos comeback alive
