Well... they're wrong. Sure, you can use any of the three and most people won't care, but since octopus is Greek in origin, I think the Greek plural -odes should be used.
I like the idea of a revamp.

Week 1 update
I rarely update for just one game, but I'll make an exception because this was an awesome game.
Flashback to last year: the Blizzard had to claw back from a 21-0 deficit to win their opening game against the Vortices.
This year, Anchorage fired on all cylinders from the very beginning. Clayton Truman went 22-of-26 for 521 yards and 6 TDs. His only miscue was one interception, which was largely compensated by the rest of his game.
3 receivers finished with over 100 yards: Sheldon Stone (133 yards and 2 TDs), rookie Anthony Bassett (109 yards and 1 TD) and backup FB/TE Hunter Wallick (220 yards and 2 TDs, including a 94-yard score). Rookie TE Hank Newman also had his first career TD.
Another rookie, HB Trevor Newman, rushed for 227 yards and 3 TDs on just 8 carries after coming in relief for Bernie Serra.
LT Oluwasegun Carroll had a busy day with 13 pancakes.
Defensively, Vince Carpenter had his first 2 sacks of the season while being used mainly in the LB/CB hybrid spot, but also as an LE in some formations.
Mack Rodgers had a strip-sack, while Eddie Andrews and Tervaris Stewart also had a sack.
In a losing cause, Toronto WR Rodney Lott scored twice against his former team, reaching the endzone on a kick return and on a reception. Final score: Grudlies 21, Blizzard 61.

If the league decides to go with one newly-generated player per team, here is a preliminary list of those players. When a position can below can refer to multiple positions (for example, DL can be LE/DT/RE), the actual position will depend on team need and the OVR rating will be around 90.
A few extra players (newly-generated or former stars) will be added to the free agent pool.
Note: teams who got a kicker were allowed to get a second player as well.

Dear readers, I would enjoy some feedback on what you would like to see in this journal. Those who have read for a long time know I used to make very detailed posts recapping every game, and I don't think I'll go back to that. However, there has to be a middle ground between that and what I've been doing recently, which is only posting an end-of-season recap and a playoffs recap (and several posts for the offseason, which I don't see changing).
I am thinking of starting posting game logs, but not every single one. Just the ones from my favorite games over the season. Along with a few screenshots. Pretty much like the update I just posted. I would still recap the season at the end, but this would give you something to look at while the season is still in progress.
Btw, I haven't yet figured out how to get a log of the entire season's stats. I'm pretty sure it is obvious, but I just haven't figured it out yet.
