That's very true! Proof that there is more than one way to build a dynasty. Aside from our own personal quirks (my obsessions are speed and awareness), there are also the limitations of our settings. For example, your injury sliders are much more realistic, but they change the way you build your roster. You could not get away with only 2 running backs or 2 quarterbacks.

My injury slider is much more boring, all the way down to 33. That way, I do have some injuries, but usually not more than one significant one every season. My thinking is that I like to face healthy opponents, and not tell myself I squeaked by because of a major injury to an opposing player. The other side of the story is that my own team doesn't get many injuries either, which is okay by me. I don't really care about realism, I look for a pleasant experience, and that's the way I like it.

Do you really think I'd think you were "dissing" me? Pfft. I don't even think that's possible, else you never would have written up a ranking of every one of my players based on how much you like them, haha.

Week 1 update

Newcomers made an immediate impact. But let's start with the injury scare that could have turned out a lot worse. On a special teams play in the first quarter, HB Bubba Brady injured himself and could not participate past his one rush for 6 yards. Thankfully, he will be available next week.

With Brady on the sideline, Bert Kennedy had his first 104 career yards, though he could not find his way to the endzone and was injured in the 4th quarter. He also will be back next week.

Star QB Clayton Truman lit up the scoreboard with 417 passing yards and 6 TDs. Marty Jackson also had his first career TD pass. And Brad Koler also caught his first TD (not on the same play).





TE Julio Stokes did not start his career with a 99-yard TD reception like Hariman Jahoda did, but he caught 10 balls for 225 yards and 3 TDs. Not bad!




Victor Sanders was all over the field, with 6 tackles, 1 sack and an interception, while Ricky Wayne had 5 sacks.

Slight computer issues

What I thought would be a temporary halt to my franchise is ending up as a mild inconvenience. As I prepared for my Saturday morning games, I noticed my computer was disabling the USB port because it apparently requires too much power. This led to me finding that my battery has the message "replace now".

As a last resort, I unpacked my newer controller that I was saving for when my current one would die. And apparently this one doesn't drain as much power, and will let me play. Only problem is that I have to get used to the newer configuration. Though both Logitechs, my new controller installs as an "XBOX Windows" controller. The buttons don't come in the same order, and I couldn't figure out how to reassign the order. I did go in my profile and configure the controller (for example, I put Sprint as the bottom button). I'm mostly in control on offense, and getting there on defense. The biggest issue is the play-choosing screen, that I don't think I can configure, so I have to remember that B selects the formation, and that the plays come in the order A-B-X.

I think it's easier to get used to this new configuration rather than spend days trying to configure it properly, which I'm not even sure is possible. I think I saw thread on this forum about it, but I'm not desperate enough yet. And since I can still play, this gives me the time to ponder if I want to replace my battery, or upgrade my computer (which is roughly 8 years old and won't update anymore).

Week 7 update

In the first game since the changes mentioned in the previous post, things went well, though not as smoothly as hoped. Some surprise plays I mis-selected, some reactions were slower, especially on defense.

Thankfully, Bubba Brady was on his A game. He rushed for 178 yards and a TD, and added 2 scores on punt returns.

Midseason update

The Cowboys and Blizzard are both at 8-0. There is still a lot of football to be played, but the odds of another Super Bowl rematch are high.

Anchorage has standout rookies on both sides of the ball. TE Julio Stokes is on pace for a 2000-yard season, while L.J. Beckett has 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles in limited play time. (This should buy him more time in the second half).

Despite missing most of the first game, RB Bubba Brady is on pace for a 2000-yard season, too. And LB Ricky Wayne could be having his best sack total, if he stays on pace (some teams can plan him out of the game, so let's not get ahead ourselves).

I changed this season to KIT's settings and they made a huge difference. I had to bump up the CPU defensive awareness a bit or the scores would really be lopsided though.

Considering the programming of the game hasn't changed, there's only two options. 1. You got better; or 2. The AI teams are worse than before. While it's highly likely that some of them are worse, there's usually an ebb and flow, which leads me to believe it's more likely that you simply are better at the game than you used to be. Playing a lot will do that haha.

Season 45 recap

For the first time in this universe, two teams cruised to a 16-0 record, the Blizzard and the Cowboys. Dallas blew out the Eagles 35-0 to secure their perfect record, while Anchorage lived dangerously and needed a long TD by rookie Julio Stokes to salvage the win.

Clayton Truman (4045 passing yards, 60 TDs to 3 INTs) won another MVP award, while Dallas RB Tyrone George (2493 rushing yards, 25 TDs, 60 receptions for 520 yards and 3 TDs) brought home the OPOY award. Ricky Wayne (88 tackles, 43 sacks, 6 interceptions, 4 FFs and 1 FR) won the DPOY award.

Anchorage swept the rookie awards with TE Julio Stokes (112 receptions, 2192 yards, 25 TDs) and FS L.J. Beckett (56 tackles, 6 interceptions, 3 FFs, 1 FR).




Aside from Beckett, SS Jeremy Jackson gave a good impression in the defensive backfield, though he did not play as much. He did collect 29 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries. CB Caz Gordon, also in limited playtime, collected his first interception when playing in place of injured teammate Marc Tanner.



Stokes became Truman's favorite target, but WR Brad Koler (681 yards and 12 TDs) was also a great addition to the receiving corps.
