The draft

Postby torontogrudlies » Wed Apr 05, 2023 9:21 pm

As a Bears fan, I'm excited about the draft this particular year! We're still doing the Draft Chat, right?

We haven't done the draft chat since... 2021? I don't pop in as much as I used to, but I don't know if there'd be enough interest for it. I'll show up if you guys will.

The QBs in this class are intriguing, Anthony Richardson (Florida) reminds me of Donovan McNabb BUT bigger, stronger and faster though his accuracy and decision making can be suspect at times. CJ Stroud (Ohio State) is the real deal in terms of accuracy but he's super skinny, Bryce Young (Alabama) seems way too small for the NFL but size probably doesn't matter as much since the game has become so focused on safety these days. Stentson Benton (Georgia) isn't a top guy but it'll be cool to see how much impact developing in a winning environment in college can transfer to the NFL.

Love QB scouting, wish Madden wasn't reduced to attributes so I could scout generated college players the same way they're scouted in real life but that would require EA to overhaul their games. Mechanics, footwork, reads based on coverage/down and distance/situation, ball placement accuracy, throwing motion speed, ball velocity and ability to make plays despite lacking in areas/playing within themselves (Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Alex Smith, Doug Flutie etc)

Can only dream for that in a video game, maybe one day if the NFL abandons EA or the concept of an annual release so they'll stop intentionally removing features from each title to make it easier to sell the next one and build off of their game via live service.
