I've been interested in a free paint program to mod Madden with since photoshop is not really accessible for everyone.

Paint.Net can save in tga format and I read that any transparency is saved with the alpha channel automatically.

Can you test to see if Paint.Net tga file format can be used with the alphapal?

Alphapa works with paint.net

Alphapal converts paint.net .tga's.

I used it to do a portrait and it came out the same as the Ps tga to bmp.

Also , it is easer and faster in paint.net because you don't need to add an alpha channel if you are already on a transparent background.

"You don't have to add an Alpha channel - it's already a component of each and every pixel in paint.net.
Simply place the text on transparent layer(s) and save it in a format that preserves transparency."

Use Muer 1.52 for insertion

Here is that portrait in Game

I'll try Gimp next , thanks for the direction elguapo

GIMP also works with alphapal.

If on a transparent background just save it a tga. If not , you can delete the background and add an alpha channel.

Here again is the .png I got from ESPN for a portrait , shown in the game after conversion

Now that we are all using the free paint programs (paint.net and GIMP) , I will be demonstrating the alphapal graphics system with my favorite , paint.net. To me , it's easier and faster than Photoshop anyway.

Creating a number in paint.net

Open paint.net

Create a new file , 128x256

Go to "T" text and choose a font (I like one of my football fonts "Academic 154")
[Get free fonts here https://www.fontspace.com/category/football]

Type your number with a height of 144.

Center the number with the omnidirectional square (bottom right)

Once centered , magic wand the outside

Go to "Edit" , "Cut" , you now have a transparent background and an alpha channel , all in one.

Go to 'File" , "save as" , tga , 32.

Place this number with all 10 numbers in a folder with alphapal.exe and tga2bmp.cmd

Click tga2bmp.cmd and all ten numbers will be created as 8bit indexed .bmp's with an active alpha channel and a common palette

Use MUER 1.52 to insert them into the "single file uniform template"

If you do download these football fonts

[Get free fonts here https://www.fontspace.com/category/football]

Place them here in Windows 10

They will then be available for all your paint and typing programs
