Starting work on a 2001 roster today

I need as much advice as I can get.

My method is going to be moving players around and editing them using both the game and NZA Madden Editor. I'll create players within the game since I have heard that that is much more stable. I'm going to be using a copy of Madden 2002 and Wikipedia to help me develop the perfect 55 man rosters.

Here are my questions:

1. Is it possible to edit people's career stats?

2. How would I go about inserting accurate player portraits? Does anybody want to help me do that?

3. Is NZA Editor always so buggy? It seems to crash on me whenever I want to do anything

1. Yes, but it's an excruciating effort that is not worth the time spent.

2. I don't know how to make portraits, but they are stored in the UIS_LIB_PLAYER_PORT.dat file, and recognized in-game by the portrait ID value.

3. Could you provide some specific examples, as well as list your operating system and any attempts you've made to rectify the issues?

I've found a work around. I'm using Windows 7 and generally if I try to do anything at all, it shuts down. But for now it's working better.

As far as the stats go.. Could you elaborate on what makes them so tedious?

Are you sure the editor is having issues, or is it just not because you're selecting teams, rosters, or positions with no players? If you select a team with no players, the editor will give you an error, but it's still working fine.

Do you have all required .NET framework packages?

Editing stats is excruciating because you'd have to manually create dozens of lines of stats for literally thousands of players, one number at a time, by hand in the DB Editor. Trust me, it's not worth the effort. You'll drive yourself mad.

Is there anyway to import players from different rosters into the one I'm working? There are other 2001 and rosters and even 2002 rosters that would feature many of the players I need and it would probably save time to just import them into the game instead of making them from scratch.

Yeah, you can import using the DB Editor, but please be mindful of site rules. Ask for permission before attempting to use anyone else's creation.

I got permission from AaronS who says he basically just ripped a Madden 2002 roster to get it.

Are their vintage stadium files around? I'd like for it to be possible to have the Lions play in the Silverdome, the Cowboys at the old Texas Stadium, etc.

Texas Stadium is already in the game. That was their stadium in Madden 08 originally. As for others, I know not. Best thing to do is check. Most stadiums are in the FF mod, and others may be available for TexMod usage.
