Got the traditional numbers to show up. They were Maddens, I just recolored them and built the texture array. Of course there is no easy solution to anything from EA with regard to numbers and nameplates. Thanks for the info on the steps to build the texture arrays Sleeper66 :D

Absolutely, but getting the Cowboys Royal to show up correctly in both sunlight and shade is kind of difficult. Cowboys history has been very misleading with respect to film and photos in capturing true Cowboys Colors. There is some film out there and very few photos that correctly show what colors were actually worn. Two in particular will show this. Americas Game on the 77 Cowboys during the training camp scenes, and Tom Landry A Football Life in various training camp scenes show the correct colors.

The original uniform was royal blue and white, not navy blue and white as we see in the modern version of the throwback. The Change in uniform in the 60's and early 70's came in the form of number of sleeve stripes, location of sleeve numbers, star on the helmet as being outlined in white and then the double star, color of helmet, color of pants. The blue was always royal, the helmet was metallic silver blue, the star was royal blue, the pants started out silver grey with a slight shade of blue.

In 74 The Cowboys wore pretty much the same home uniform except the pants had a bluer tint with that slightly changing during the Bum Bright and Jerry Jones ownership years during the mid 80's, 90's, and present. The star has changed from navy during the Bum Bright Jerry Jones eras to what they wear now, a color in between navy and royal. The helmet is silver with not as much blue tint, and those awful green pants.

Now they will tell you they have worn the green pants since the 70's because Tex Schram loved the color and even display them in the uniform history gallery in Arlington, but it is a flat out lie. They say they look green because of high def tv, but it's not true. You can find old game worn pants on ebay to proove this and even film and photos will show grey or blue, but never green.

The three colors are supposed to be royal blue, silver metallic blue, and white .... not navy and green as it is now. Some folks love the navy uniforms, but I hate them with a passion. The Cowboy uniform from 1974 to 1979 home and away versions can't be beat in my opinion. What they have worn from 1980 to the present makes me want to puke. The darker royal jersey with silver blue numbers outlined in white wasn't too bad, but it's been downhill from there.

If you read the information about the helmet, you will read about the Cowboys going away from the blue silver metallic helmet color of the 60's, but I think the helmet color didn't change until around 1971. The helmet was worn in 76 by Cliff Harris and it eventually landed in a bar that yellowed the white stripe over time and darkened the blue. The star was protected by clearcoat, so it stayed royal. The blue stripe under the red shows the blue stripes to be royal as well.

I have a helmet from 1992 that came with dark navy decals and the helmet color was silver grey. I redid the helmet to have royal blue decals and painted it to be silver metallic blue. From five feet away, the decals look navy, in sunlight they are royal blue unless you are standing a few feet away, then it looks navy. The helmet looks silver with a slight blue tint up close, but silver grey from a distance or in normal lighting.
Royal and silver metallic blue for me all the way.

Looks good Nick.

Don't know if you've tried font/name editing yet, but man it's a drag. The editing is pretty easy, but the arrays are a nightmare.

Yup, and I thought the old name plate was bad.
At least 62 images and then symbols to modify and then hex edit for the array. Don't think I'll be doing too many name plates.

Now I understand why index color and palettes were used in Madden 08. Whole lot easier to change the colors of a palette than rework a bunch of graphics. Just plug a palette into your image and it's automatically colored the way you want.

Currently working on cowboy traditional numbers. Maddens just don't look right to me. Pain putting the stitching on them, that seemed to be alot simpler too. Sorry for all of my previous modding complaints concerning Madden 08

Scrapped Madden's traditional Cowboy numbers for mine. I think mine look better. The stitching was a royal pain, but it looks better and more even then what the game came with. Also, Madden's traditional numbers look more blocky than rounded like they are supposed to be. I remember when I built the templates I pasted them over actual traditional cowboy number photos to make sure they were correct. Sorry EA, close, but you lose with regard to the traditional look.
