Good Morning Everyone!
This community and the resources on this site have allowed me to accomplish roster modifications on Madden that high school me could only dream of. It's been an absolute blast! I want to thank a few members (if I missed you--I'm sorry!) and offer something to the community that I hope can help others.
To elguapo, stingray, datmanmadden59x, minotauri and octobump: thanks for the help along the way! I've gone from knowing very little to just enough to be dangerous! Always appreciate the help and advice you've given to get where I'm at!
I wanted to have something worthwhile to share with the community here and I think I finally have something. I am attaching the full Madden 09 PS2 Portrait List. I'm ecstatic that this list is finally complete. It turned into a two year project to complete this but it was a labor of love. I used and learned many Excel tricks to get to this point and I scoured Getty Images for hours to get this knocked out.
I'll add some details in the reply to this but I want to get this out without any further ado. Please have fun with this and let me know if you have any questions or notice any mistakes.
I plan to share this in the PS2 sub as well.

For those of you who are interested, here are some details and some of the more interesting things I found in the portrait library:
Library Details
Real player photographs run from PSXP 1 to 2697
Computer generated faces run from PSXP 2699 to 3217
The Tackling Dummy face is PSXP 1677
The Shadow face (Glacier, Trident and Deceiver Teams) is PSXP 1678
There are blanks at PSXP 2693 and 2698
Computer generated image of just the hair style run from PSXP 3218 to 3284
The game crashes if you put in PSXP 3285 or higher
Who's in? Who's not?
-There are some inner-circle Hall of Famers' portraits on here, even though they had been retired for some time: Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith have portraits
-Several Hall of Famers that I was hoping for do not have a portrait: Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, Will Shields, Willie Roaf, Bruce Smith, etc...
-I did not find any coach portraits in this sequence, although the game has some. Hoping to find those someday and see what we've got. Possibly a Belichick hidden in there even though his likeness was not officially included in these games.
-Michael Vick is on the portrait list, despite being in prison when this game was made and despite being supposedly removed from Madden 08.
-Two players that died during the 2007 season still have a portrait in this game: Sean Taylor and Darrent Williams. May they both be remembered and rest in peace.
-Chicago Bears legend and longsnapper Patrick Mannelly has a portrait. I was stoked to find this one!
Other Observations
-I can't say that I quite know how the portraits were selected each year beyond the active roster players. In the library, you have some players that were practice squad types only and they have photos, but more established guys don't have a photo. To make it more confusing, some guys (mainly longsnappers) have a photo in earlier Madden editions, but they were not copied to this game.
-There was some laziness or haphazardness (take your pick) on EA's part about players with the same name. There's only one photo of Will Allen and only one Buster Davis. But hey, we know the game isn't perfect and that's why we work at it.
-I only know of two duplicate photos, which is less than I was expecting. Jason David and Scott Wells got their photo added twice.
