RB Split in Fast Sim

Is there a way for the substitutions you do in the roster screen to actually stick when you do a Fast Simulation? I have two solid running backs that I want to get carries. One is more of a speed/scat back and the other is a power back. I went into the formation substitution screen setting up the specific back I want in that formation. I also set the RB1/RB2 split as 50/50. But regardless of what I do the top running back on the depth charge always gets 90+% of all the carries.

Place the 2nd back as the starting FB on the team’s roster. That is where madden pulls the second back.
