Containing the outside run: QB Contain vs. Flat Zone

Postby jose21crisis » Fri Jan 05, 2018 3:08 pm

So, I've been thinking what kind of plays would be effective against that like to run sweeps or toss plays. There are 2 commands that should do that job. The first one is the Flat Zone, which stacks the player at the sideline, waiting for any player to go there. It should be pretty decent against an off-tackle or sweep run. But I recently started to see another command, which was the QB Contain. This sends the player outside of the pocket in case the QB thinks he's going to be cute and run away. I wondered if QB contain would be better against outside runs compared to the Flat Zone, what do you think?

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Always have a plan. And a backup plan. And backups to the backup.
And be able to improvise.
