I currently have an issue when I am playing madden 08. In my NZA Editor, I edited my roster and I clicked Recalculate Salary. Since then I have been getting some weird figures in my franchises and keep getting 100 million free cap space every year in my franchises. It's like I have Salary cap turned off. It's unrealistic that I can keep a team with more than half the players 99 Overall players. Even the backups have 99 overalls...And I still am getting this unnatural amount of cap space. What can I do to reverse this issue?

when will I have to actually struggle and have to release players to resign who I want, clear cap penalties etc.

Wish there had been an answer to this... I'm having a similar issue.

What version of NZA's Editor are you using?

to fix it, open it up as cvs/excel/spreadsheet, and paste in all the salary related entries as you can. you could copy from a previous saved version if you still have that one.
