MADDEN O8 FREEZING UP DURING EXHIBITION GAME

I have been running Madden 08 for 4 years, with the last 4 months on an ASUS Gaming computer that runs Windows 11. Game worked great until last week. Suddenly, when playing a game in Exhibition Mode - CPU vs CPU - the game will freeze after 1 to 10 minutes of play. After sitting frozen for about 10 minutes, the screen will turn black and a message will appear saying it cannot start my screen saver. I have the screen saver turned off. Anyone have an idea why the problem as suddenly popped up?
