I personally use two anti-virus programs, Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, but I am very well aware of how to figure out if a file is really bad or a false positive, so I tend to do a fair bit of exempting.
My Data Comm teacher actually suggested to us students that we install a host-only virtual network, run a virus, and use network monitoring tools to understand how they operate. If I ever end up doing that, I'd need those anti-virus programs just in case I screwed something up.
Anyway, most of the files on this site... actually, I'm pretty sure all of them... are safe and sound. They just get flagged by anti-virus programs. Adding an exception for the file or folder should work.
