My old PCs finally died and when I downloaded the game again via my old Amazon purchase, I was told that I've reached the limit of machines my game could be downloaded on.
Is there a workaround for this? This is a really shitty way to not be able to play the game anymore.

You have to find a no CD key patch online. I can't tell you where, just Google it.
